Attending church with three young children is not always the most enjoyable thing. Some weeks we leave thinking, did we get anything out of that today? But still we go, knowing we are doing what we should, knowing we are instilling good habits and values.
This last Sunday was actually going pretty well. Alex was quietly coloring and Lucas was drawing rockets and machines he was going to invent. Ryder was even being pretty quiet- occasionally wandering back and forth between me and Eric.
In the middle of Sacrament meeting a teenage girl sang a beautiful song accompanied by a violin and pianist. I was soaking in the music, the whole room still and quiet feeling the beautiful spirit the music brought. Ryder came by my legs and reached out his arms wanting to be lifted up. I picked him up turning him so he could see the musicians. He didn't want to see the musicians but wanted to go see daddy. He began walking down the pew to get to Eric. When he got to where Lucas was sitting, naturally he tried to step over him-- but little toddler legs aren't always that long.
"He's stepping on my private parts!" Lucas said laughing.
My head whipped around- daggers shooting out of my eyes- quickly lifting Ryder up and over Lucas. Shhh! My eyes shout out. I tried to do everything to stop my face from turning bright red.
Thankfully Lucas had used his "church voice" so only those immediately around us were privileged to his comment. Such a proud mama I was.
