Friday Confessionals: A case of the Blah's

Linking up with Mamarazzi today for Friday Confessionals-a fun weekly meme-join in, it's fun.

  • I almost didn't post today.. last night, when I usually write my posts I think the reality of my life as it is right now all came crashing down on me.
  • My "glass half full" attitude-well someone must have stole my glass.
  • But this morning I am feeling a bit better
  • except for the huge knot in my stomach.
  • Do you remember how I have been taking monthly pictures of Ryder?
  • Well I finally took his 12 month picture yesterday.
  • Now I just need to put the 12 months together in a collage and finish the video I was going to have ready for his birthday.
  • Instead I will post in honor of the day he got released from the NICU.
  • This morning Alex said she wanted a different mommy and daddy.
  • Why?
  • Because I was asking her to get dressed for school.
  • Such a mean mom I know!
  • Yesterday right at the end of the school day Lucas hit a kid.
  • But when I found out the back-story and what had been happening all day
  • well I am kind of proud of him.
  • He was standing up for a friend and at the time the kid literally had Lucas' arm pinned behind his back.
  • And I am pretty sure his teacher was kind of proud too-she didn't come right out and say so-but that fact that he didn't really get in too much trouble and she told me that the other kid was "very naughty" I knew she wasn't too upset.
  • But of course I talked with Lucas about why we don't hit and then we started talking about why some kids are mean
  • which led to us talking about my previous job as a DCFS worker and about the parents who did really bad things to their kids
  • so after all of that- Alex's comment did sting a little bit this morning.
  • Eric and I's Ten Year Anniversary is coming up
  • guess how we are celebrating?
  • By moving! Yeah! Aren't you jealous?
  • Speaking of moving-the week that I do I am going to have a bunch of guests bloggers so should be fun
  • oh and I have a giveaway coming up!
  • It is something I paid for and love love but I don't need them anymore
  • so rather than sell them at the huge garage sale I am about to have
  • I am going to give them to one of you!
  • Are you excited?
  • And is this post long enough?
  • Yes-too long.
  • Thanks for letting me vent confess.
  • My glass is 1/4 full now.

  1. Moving for your 10 year??? That's pretty yucky sounding! I hope you make up for it later, you guys deserve it!

  2. Something in the air for sure. I have a broken glass, crushed and shattered into a million pieces attitude lately. I'm hoping it goes away soon.

I am sooo very glad my kids are out of school for the summer. Even if they are driving me nutty. School issues are such a hassle sometimes.

  3. Ugh. Poor Lucas. I'm glad he didn't get in trouble.
Your glass is a quarter full? I'm jealous. Mine's usually about 1/8...lol.

  5. Bummer you're moving on your 10 year anniversary!! I'm kinda proud of your son, too. It's good that he stood up! I hate parenting days like that. Hang in there!

  6. I've sucked at posting all week.

I'd be proud of him, too.

I WISH I had done monthly photos like that. Can't wait to see the finished product.

  7. I would have been in so much trouble as a kid. I gave a kid a bloody nose, another a fat lip all in self defense but you know how it goes.

Ryan is tells me I am the worst mom ever all the time. haha. I just roll my eyes.

The glass will get there. :)

  8. Oh, I wish I lived by you right now so I could help you (not that I want to live where you are moving from!) but I do wish I could help!!!

The last couple weeks are always the worst. Just so unsettled feeling. Good luck! xoxo

  11. Aww, we all have those days!! And, seriously, why are kids so mean sometimes? My 2nd grader came home in tears because some of his friends were fighting and being mean, and he got caught in the middle of it all. One friend told him he needed to "choose a side"...2nd grade..ridiculous. Is it summer yet??
    Hang in there, lady!

And hope your glass get's filled some more over the next few days...

  14. Good for Lucas! As wrong as it is to hit, I think it is important for kids to be able to stick up for themselves.
Moving... I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Good luck with it. I hope you are going somewhere you like. Can you now tell the last place they had said they were sending you but didn't? I am like a cat. Curious and stuff. :)
I hate to remember all the times I told my mother I hated her and wished I had been born to another family. I know you know this, but sometimes it helps to hear it. I didn't mean those things. Nor does Alex.
I hope you can find 3/4 more things to fill your glass today.

  16. The best part about having a blog is being able to vent when life gets a bit out of control. I enjoyed your venting :-)

  17. Moving is so stressful. Add the end of school, birthday craziness, bullying kids and it's pretty much a recipe for pure frustration. I wish you the best over the next few weeks!!

  18. I hope everything goes well in the move - I know it's always so tough to move ... and I've never had children when doing it. Keep your head up, eh!

Let's get the glass a bit fuller! Would chocolate help??

  19. Go Lucas! ..Not that I condone hitting.. I guess.... but I'm happy that he had the courage to stand up for his friend :)

  20. Some days are just rough, dealing with kid issues of any kind can drain and shatter your glass, no doubt.

Talking to my boys about not hitting, but defending one self has been tough around here. I can't say definitively, "don't EVER hit." But, any shade of gray is tough for a kid.

Hope you are feeling fully better!

  21. I kinda wish my older kid had enough fortitude to actually hit someone. He is more of the watch things happen to others or himself. He is too nice sometimes. I'd feel the same sense of pride if he did the same. (And I AM a teacher.)

  22. Seriously I think that funk is contagious because I have it too!
