Pros Must Have Good Pictures

Sometimes since I am a professional photographer, I feel this self imposed pressure to only post good and great pictures on my blog. I mean I am a pro, I must always get perfect shots right? Cute backgrounds, with my kids smiling nicely? Perfect exposure, perfect focus. And of course Easter, with matching ties for the boys, a new cute dress for Alex is the perfect time for that perfect picture.

But that ain't life.Sometimes you get an almost two-year-old who decides it it time to act just that
Sometimes you get siblings that think it is funny and egg him on

Sometimes you know you had better not press you luck as they are waiting to go hunt for their Easter baskets
But as with everything in life, if you don't give upand wait.... for the right moment...
the right time-- which is often completely different than you want it to be

And just let go and trust

It might not be the "picture perfect life" you envisionedBut in the end, it works out to it's own kind of perfect

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

And I have a winner for the Power of Mom's Retreat-- I had Lucas pick a number for me and the winner is...

  3. I have so many blog and facebook friends that are professional photographers that I feel ashamed to post my own amature photos, ha.

Sadly, my stupid computer won't load the pics, but I know your pics are always adorable, and I suspect that these are super cute even though they're not "perfect."

I still have to go through our vacation pics, but I know I'll be lucky if there are even two good ones out of a few hundred.

    Happy belated Easter!

I always think your pictures are beautiful Emmy!

My wish is to one day learn how to really take decent pictures!

  13. What wonderful pictures Emmy, I know what you mean about wanting to take perfect photos- Isaac is at the stage where you put the camera up and he tries to a)grab it or b) hide from it. Frustrating isn't the word! But sometimes the ones you didn't intend on snapping are the best of the bunch! Hope you had a lovely Easter!

  14. I love this post!! The thing is, your kids could be making goofy faces in all your pics, and they would still be perfect because they are so adorable!!

  15. Hey, at least we're in the digital age now and you don't have to develop them if you don't want :). But it's still cute! I makes for some fun memories, and if nothing else, black-mail :)

  16. If I only posted perfect pictures, I wouldn't have a single picture on my blog. ;o) I think even your imperfect ones turned out lovely! The kids looked beautiful in their Easter clothes!

  17. Those pictures turned out cute! And it's comforting to hear that even professional photographers can have a hard time getting good shots of their children. I always have a hard time getting the "perfect" shot of my two little guys, but sometimes the way the pictures turn out pleasantly surprises me.

  18. He is just precious! I miss that age, but at the same time I don't want to go back to it. Clear as mud?! hahaha.

One perk of being a non-professional is the ability to post blurry, technically horrible pictures. :)

  19. Great pics! I am not allowed to touch the "good" camera, so I never get these shots. Heck, I am not allowed to MOVE the camera CASE. These are amazingly beautiful!

  22. The one with Ryder on the floor is a crack up. But really all these are fantastic. And see, just like you said it comes when you are not expecting it. I just hurried and got some shots and we left. That's the difference between a pro and a amateur!;)

  25. girl, even your unposed chaotic pictures are awesome. You know exactly when to press that button and I wish you were my live in photographer. You should see my Easter shots with my wooden pallet that I worked so hard to make cute for a back drop.... ugh. but that's life as you say.. gotta love it no matter what you get! You have some ADORABLE kids!!

  29. Fabulous pictures, Emily! I love the ones where everyone is just goofing off, but my favorite ones are the ones where Alex is just sitting all "pretty". She is so grown up now! Adorable!
