Bikinis, Guns and Burgers

What do a girl in a bikini, an armed guard and a burger have in common?   No, this isn't a bad joke, this is the introduction of the date Eric and I went on last week.

Last week Eric and I laughed until we cried, well I was crying, while we attended the Brian Regan Concert.  Did you know they call comedy shows concerts?  Maybe they don't that is just what our tickets said.   We went on a rare mid-week date to see his show; we had grand plans of Eric getting off early and eating dinner at "The Salted Pig' and then seeing the show.

As best laid plans sometimes go- they don't.  Eric did get off early, but not early enough to beat the insane L.A. traffic.

Thankfully we still had plenty of time to get to the show on time, but the Salted Pig was out, instead we had to settle for dinner at a Carl's Jr. down the street from the theater.

The first thing I saw when entering Carl's was a large cut out a girl in an itty bitty bikini adverting a fish sandwich.  When did Carl's start using soft p*rn to advertise?   We used to eat there all the time where we last lived, as it was the closest fast food place to our house; let's just say I am not going to be taking my kids there anytime soon (or ever).

The next thing I noticed while waiting in line was an armed guard sitting at at table.  I figured he was on a dinner break or waiting for someone; but as we sat and ate our dinner I soon realized he wasn't on break, he wasn't waiting for someone, he was working-- this was his job.

I then did a quick survey of the Carl's crowd, all nicely dressed middle aged people- ones that looked like they probably just got off their 9-5 professional jobs. In fact the Carl's itself seemed to be a bit fancier with nice finishes.  It seemed quite strange an armed guard was needed and made me glad it was still light out as this was obviously not the best neighborhood.

We survived eating our burgers, mourning missing out on the Salted Pig but the rest of the night was perfect.  Everything from the opening act, to Brian's hilarious and clean jokes to the fact that my husband thought it was so funny where we were sitting, which he shared on instagram.
Yes he thought it was hilarious we were sitting in P-P.   I guess boys always think potty humor is funny.

  1. Sounds like such a great night. I've never heard of Brian Regan but who doesn't benefit from a night of laughing--especially when the jokes are clean. Thanks for the comments about Carl's Junior. I have to admit...PP always seems to tickle the funny bone...but I have never figured out why. Cute pic of you two.

  2. Awe you two look so cute! My hubby would giggle at the P-P thing too, but I would probably be the one to point it out to him, haha!

  4. Hee hee, row PP. That's funny! I've seen media coverage about some of Carl's Jr. advertising. It can be very racy and offensive, even though it's only a food place!

  5. Yikes to the armed guard having to be there, but it completely cracks me up that boys never lose their love of potty humor!

  6. What?!?! Carl's Jr is the same as Hardee's here and I have never seen a bikini clad cut out or an armed guard! That's crazy...

  7. It's never a good sign when there is a guard at dinner. Glad you all made the best of the night though and enjoyed the show!

  8. I hate the Carl's Jr. commercials. They are just like the cut-out. Makes me not want to go there. Brain Regan on the other hand, now that would be fun!

  9. We have Hardee's instead of Carls and their ads are the same, with young scantily clad girls and sexual humor. Sad. But it looks like you made the best of it...and boy humor truly never does go away!

  13. You saw Brian Reagan? Live?! I am so jealous. What a fun night. Interesting. Memory making. Fun. So sad about Carl's Jr. I think boycotting places like that is a good idea. Not only for the loss of business for them, but the sheltering of our children as well.
