Girls and Attitude

Once upon time when I only had two kids, I thought maybe I would want two more.... okay let's be honest for a little while after two kids we weren't sure if we really wanted another as my kids don't do anything halfhearted.

Those times though when we thought about having four kids, I thought I would only want four if I could guarantee it wouldn't be two more boys as boy are hard.

That is what I thought and that thought literally makes me laugh out loud now.

Yes, boys are full or energy, and like to climb and jump from things that give you heart attacks

but girls...

girls are drama.

Stubborn, red-headed drama

Heaven help me survive the teenage years.

What has been your experience?  Are boys or girls harder?

  1. I have no comparison, but after the meltdown I witnessed on Sunday, I can already see the drama ahead with a girl!

  2. Our daughter has always thrown tantrums unlike anything I've ever seen in my life. I recall her first around age 1, where my husband and I just stood staring, in shock. So, that plus the getting dresses debacle every morning exhausts me. Otherwise, I think they're 'easier' than boys. I don't know. Ask me tomorrow and I'll probably have a different answer. :)

    1. Lol that is true- I did write this post after a big drama day from my daugther, so I might even say differently another day too. I think she is often so like me and so stubborn that we butt heads a lot

  3. I LOVE the look on her face! I have four girls and three boys and I would take ten more boys over another girl. In fact, when we found out our last was a boy, I declared that we HAD to stop because I couldn't risk another girl. Oh the drama.

  4. Boys are harder until they are five or so, then they get easy. Girls are easy till they are about seven or so, and then they are hard, hard, HARD.

    1. Yea that would be a loud crazy house! I have heard most people end up having about half of the kids they say they want at first. My mom, wanted 12- yep, she stopped at 6. I always wanted 4-5, we stopped at 3.

  6. My daughter is a drama queen. My boys well they have give me a near heart attack because they are fearless! I wouldn't trade any of this for the world. As much as they make me crazy I love them so much! 3 is enough for me. My husband was like I would like more kids. I look at him with the evil glare and think yeah...your not the one pushing them out...

    1. Yes they really do come so differently and have all their own craziness; three is good for me too :)

  9. We've got one of each and my son is full of crazy energy and my daughter is pretty aggressive. Each have their challenges I suppose. Then again my babies are little still. I'm just getting started! I guess I should read the comments to find out what's ahead for me. LOL

  10. I just told my sister that if she has kids I wish for her to have boys!

Boys are the sweetest. They love and love and care!

Girls are drama and slamming doors.

  12. I'm five years younger than my sister and I had to watch her go through the teenage years, and boy was she awful! We always hope that her daughter doesn't go through the moody & rebellious stage she did. I wasn't quite as bad, but I still had a real temper on me and could be a real drama queen. My niece has already perfected the art of being over-dramatic so I can't imagine what my sister's got in store for the future! It's definitely going to be interesting...

  13. That's funny...I have a picture of myself when I was about nine, with the same pouty, grumpy face...goes with the territory of being a girl and figuring out how to grow up. It's all good, though. Two parents teaching one girl is a great arrangement. Just keep doing what you're doing!

    1. Thanks! Yes, I was telling Eric that there are so many pictures of me on vacation from about the ages of 10-14 where I am pouting or look bored or not happy. So yea, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree :)

  14. I have 3 kids and my oldest is 14 and a girl. Let me just tell you that up until about two years ago she was definitely my easiest child. Two years ago though when she hit the teen years the world fell apart. Oh my goodness, it will be a miracle if I make it through.

Out of my younger two, my boy is the hardest. He's just very headstrong. I'm hoping that as he gets older he gets easier!!!

I say it's her red hair! My Mom is red headed and she has a bad temper!

    1. Yea, I am really not looking forward to the teen years, it really is just such a crazy time for almost every kid I think.

The red-hair definitely seems to impact personality.

  15. I only have boys but from seeing the girls in my play group I can see they can be more sassy and independent at times :)

    1. Yes sassy is a very good way to describe girls at times :)

  16. Haha! Look at that sour face! :o) Obviously I can't weigh in on this one, though - I guess I always figured girls would be harder just because that's what I've always heard!

    1. Yea, they are definitely each hard in their own way, but man the attitude gets old fast!

  17. Hahaha! I love that face! I gave the camera so many of those faces as a kid. Sigh, the memories. I actually have a much easier time with Faye than I do with Keith. He is so stubborn and wants to do things his way. He fights on everything! If I could figure that out, he would be easier, but I haven't so he isn't. One of these days we will both figure it out, right?!
