One Week Countdown

It is only one week until Christmas!  How is that even possible?   We almost have all of our shopping done, my kids just need to buy for each other still, but nothing is wrapped and my house is a mess.

The laundry is piled up (in the laundry room and my dresser), the kitchen is a mess and my living room, it looks like a studio right now.

It was worth it though to be able to meet this sweet little girl (even if at only 4 days old she didn't like to sleep very much)

My goal is to get it all taken care of today by Saturday.  I am helping out in my kids class today, they get out early Thursday then have no school Friday.... but I am determined.

I am determined to not let Christmas break and Christmas pass by in a blur while never really enjoying it.  I am determined to be present in the moment (my word for this year), and really take it all in.

I really wish I had a machine that I could just pause and slow down time, but I think we all want that and then who knows what day it would ever be.  Instead, I am just going to slow down, to start each day with a prayer in my heart that I can see those around me, that I can notice and enjoy the little things, that I can have patience when inevitably, my kids will fight and pick at each other.  To just breath, to just smile and enjoy.   At Christmas we celebrate the Saviors Birth which brings peace and hope and I am going to feel it.

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth Peace and Good will toward men.

  1. Big breaths! It'll all get done! It always does! :o)

We leave in 2.5 days for the U.S. and I still have laundry to do and packing, but I just can't get the motivation to do it. Most likely the laundry will have to wait until we get back home and we'll pack the night before. :o)

  2. I think we are in the same mindframe! Have to enjoy the season, in spite of all we have to do.

Oh, that little baby is precious!!

  3. I'm feeling much the same way! My shopping and wrapping is done for the most part, but I still feel a little scattered, and I keep thinking that I need to clean the house... but I also want to be present this year and not let everything fly by too quickly. I want to enjoy it, savour it, and be peaceful. I hope we're both successful! ;)

  4. I would love to be able to put a pause on this week. I think many of us can relate to the never ending to do list! It will all get done somehow...and if it doesn't, I always say no one will be remembering it! The memories come from the time spent together. Let's all try to slow down and enjoy. This from the lady who still has some shopping and all of my wrapping to do! :)

  5. Good perspective. You're doing well! I truly love this time of year and it makes me sad when so many people stress. I hope we can all slow down and enjoy it.

    1. Yes, what is the point if you don't slow down to enjoy it.

  7. Beautiful shots you got!! I have the flu. One WEEK before Christmas. And no, I was not prepared with everything complete ahead of time. My mom and my husband are picking up my slack and I am ever so thankful. I am also thankful for the forced slow-down. It wouldn't have happened otherwise.

  9. My list seems to be never-ending. I need to learn to let go of some things. That baby is just too precious. The picture with the Santa hat is pure perfection.
