I think the alarm companies must have a conspiracy, let's find the most obnoxious noise possible to wake people up. No sweet little nudges, no birds chipping, no sunshine coming in through the window.. just loud obnoxious blaring noises.
It doesn't exactly start you off in the right mood.
What if there was a way you could be gently woken up, and even have a smile on your face?
As the saying goes, 'there's an App for that'.
Dignity Health has created a FREE app called Rise And Smile. This app allows you to record a short video, in ‘Vine’ style, wishing someone a good morning. It’s not just about your immediate community; it’s about humanity as a whole, spreading joy to total strangers all over the world.
Imagine waking up to someone showing you some beautiful flowers and wishing you a good morning, or a laughing child saying good morning.
I love to use the App for a mid-day pick me up, I set an alarm for the middle of the day when I might just need that extra little smile.
You can set multiple alarms, and simply swipe to the left or right to turn the alarms on or off. You can also like videos and create your own.

You do have to have the App open for the video to just begin playing, however if I am not in the app when one of my daytime alarms goes off, it will pop up with a notification which I can then slide and watch the video. If you were wanting to use it as an alarm, you would have to have the App opened, so you will want to have your phone plugged in for battery life. I have not yet used this app as an awake alarm.
You should also check out the Hello Humankindness website it is a collection of ways and places to serve and give back and has lots of links to news stories and those great feel good videos; just like this social experiment of a boy without a coat.
In addition, you can see the worldwide map of where Human kindness is spreading.
I love the whole concept of this website and this app, as let's be honest this world can definitely use a little more kindness. Help spread some kindness, get the Rise And Smile App to start your day right, then share those moments where you give back using #hellohumankindness
What is an act of kindness you have seen or been part of recently?
