The Miracles in Our Lives

Thanks everyone for the support for my audition... it went, pretty well. I literally choked/coughed a bit on a low note (thanks nerves!). But they had me read a couple of different parts from the script. So now I just have to wait and see. I have heard they want to have the cast list by this Sunday.

I am trying to just be happy with and trust that whatever happens will be for the best. One of the things that life has taught me is to just turn it over to the Lord and trust.

Now what I am about to share, might be a bit heavy for a Monday morning. But it is something that I think anyone, especially all of us as moms can benefit from.

This is an excerpt from my journal written October 23rd.

"This morning I lay in my bed fighting the need to get up. It was still dark out. I was all wrapped up as I love to be. But then I started to contemplate and reflect on my inability to do it. I need to turn it over to the Lord. While I was contemplating this, this gift and insight was given to me.

The story of the miracle of the fish and loaves came to me. [As found in The New Testament John, Chapter 6] Jesus is teaching his people and much time has passed, so they need to eat. He asks his disciples to find fish and bread to feed the crowd. They find what they can but it isn't nearly enough and then the miracle occurs.

But this morning I began to ponder, what happened before this story? The boy that had the fish, how did he get them? There were not grocery stores with seemingly endless food like we have now; he simply didn't walk in and purchase them. First he had to learn how to fish. He had to be taught by his parents. He had to grow and mature and then he had to DO. He could not simply sit on his education and knowledge, he had to put it into action. He then had to go out, spend the time in the water and work to gather those fish.

His job wasn't done then as he probably had to take those fish home and debone them and maybe put spices and preservatives on them. It was a lot of work.

When the disciples came and asked for the fish, he wanted to help. He gave what fish he had. But in the end, no matter how much work he did-it was not enough. It was beyond his physical and his mental abilities. It was beyond the time he had to get fish for so many people.

It was ONLY through the miracle the Savior could and did do that all were able to be fed. As mothers, sisters and as daughters of God--we have to work. We have to toil in the water and might even get burned along the way--but we cannot do it! It is only through a total miracle that it can be accomplished. Heavenly Father, I cannot do it today. I need the miracle to do it for me."

As moms we work so hard everyday. We constantly give and sacrifice for our children, our families, those around us... but sometimes no matter what we do it just isn't enough. And just like this miracle, until we let go, turn it over to our Heavenly Father and say Help me! Do it for me! it cannot be done.

Whatever challenge you might be facing in your life right now. I know that if you trust your Heavenly Father and to ask him to help you and then to turn it over and trust Him, that things will be okay. They might not be what we want, but it will be good.

Thank you again for your support, you friendships and for continuing to come to my blog.

  6. WOW that is something to think about. I have never thought about it that way. I am so glad that the Lord sees the whole picture and sets things up in advance so that IF we ask he can come through.

Thanks for setting my week in the right direction.

  7. I keep finding myself looking longingly at other paths, but whenever I look down at the path I'm on I realize that it shines brighter than any other.

We really are blessed to be mothers.

    Great post.

  8. Beautiful post and your analogy is perfect in today's times. I think as mothers we all question whether we do enough, have taught the right things and if our children will go into the world as products of our hard teaching and mothering. Our only saving grace is to give it up and pray that the right path will be chosen. Great post!!

  14. I'm a little bit late on this. . . but thanks for the insight. You always just think of that as a cool story and not really anything more. But when you think about it like that it really does show you that you can't just sit and expect miracles, you have to work for them. Thanks. I needed the reminder.
