Santa's Visit

Saturday we had our church Primary party. I am in the Primary Presidency so was there of course. For those who may not know the Primary is the name of the organization within our church for 3-11 year old kids. While the adults are in Sunday school the kids get to go to their own Sunday school classes or primary. We had several different rotations with several fun Christmas games, a craft table where the kids made a bell ornament, and the stop that I was at with a special visitor named Santa!

I took pictures of all of the kids with Santa that will go on the ornaments that they made. We invited the nursery age kids as long as their parents could stay with them. Alex was very excited that she was going to be able to come.

I uploaded all of the pictures from my camera and began sorting through them. And then I came upon this.
Okay, I know I am biased, but how cute is this?!? She was actually a little hesitant to go see him at first but then I said, it's okay it's Santa go tell him what you want for Christmas, and she just ran right up and sat on his lap.

Lucas was also very excited to see the big man and even whispered in his ear what he wants for Christmas.

And did you know Santa is funny? One of my favorite jokes that he told "What do you get if you cross a snowman and a vampire? .....Frost Bite!"

It was a great party and I enjoyed taking pictures of all of the kids.. it really was peaceful back in the corner we had blocked off for Santa. If you have ever been to a Primary activity with 50+ kids you can imagine the craziness. Since I was in my little corner I didn't see what happened to cause Alex to feel like this....
I called Eric to come rescue Alex when she came running over to me crying and just wouldn't settle down. Later when I asked her why she was so sad she said she was just scared. I guess the party was a little too much for her. (It was a bit too much for Lucas too at first--luckily his wonderful Primary teacher was there and saved the day so he had a great time too)

It was so nice having Santa there, no long lines, no paying $20+ for a picture and the kids couldn't have been happier.

  1. Wow, Alex looks tall on Santa's lap for a nursery kid. How tall is she? Is she tall for her age (I would imagine so with her Dad being so tall)?

  3. Stormie-she is super tall. She hasn't had her three year check yet, but at 2 she was already over 3 ft tall. I now buy 5T or even kid size 4 clothes for her.

  10. Dang Emmy! Next year we are sooo going to your party! Ours was more adult oriented. The kids still ran around like crazy, but there was no crafts or anything for them. Ryan wouldn't visit with Santa there either.

And no you are not biased, that picture of Alex is SOOOOO sweet!

And I love that you did this .. it must be a nice treat for the parents to have this done instead of trekking to the mall or something!

  15. Alex is so precious. My Princess is afraid of Santa, too. We tried to go the mall this weekend and the line was more than an hour long. What was I thinking?!?!?! We may have to live without that photo this year!

  16. The picture of all of you guys is really great - how lucky that all four of you are looking good with Santa.

I can't even do that with 2, much less all 4 of us.

    Congrats on a successful party!
