"No! I'm sorry!" they will plead.
"I am glad you are sorry but there are consequences to your actions."
Lucas will grudgingly go (sometimes after many warnings and other punishments); Alex will go with her shoulders hunched over, head hanging low. It is quite humorous how miserable she can look.
This is their punishment. Mean-mean me sends them to their rooms where about 1/2 of their toys are. Yet it is still a horrible punishment. Rarely do I find them playing with their toys when I go to talk with them. They are usually sitting on their bed pouting. I am just holding my breath for the day when they realize they can just be having fun during their time outs.
My mom must have realized this by the time my sister and I came around as she would make us sit on a chair. No being sent to our room to play with our toys. Plus we shared a room and often were in trouble for fighting with each other, so being sent to the same room could have been dangerous.
I wish I could be sent to time out in my room with my "toys". Let's see, a minute per age, I am pushing 30. Yeah 30 minutes in my room with my toys, i.e.my iPad and iPhone....well I think I would be getting into a lot of trouble. Mommy didn't clear her dishes when asked- time out for mommy. Mommy yelled at the kids to be quiet when she was on the phone- time out for mommy.
"Mommy you pinched me!"
"You are right, that is a bad bad Mommy, I am going to time out."
Ahhh, I can imagine it now.
Now if you would excuse me, I have a child to pinch.
Disclaimer: Before any of you go calling CPS on me- the last part was all in jest. I would never pinch my kids- but I do often forget to clear my dishes.
