Baby Milestones

With Lucas I could not wait for him sit up, to crawl, to eat food, I watched for all of those milestones excited with anticipation for each. With Alex, they just seemed to happen, I was busy chasing around a two-year-old so she just seemed to grow up without me even noticing. While I am still very busy now, this time around I have been enjoying Ryder as a baby as much as possible, having two extra months of being a baby certainly did help that. But as much as I don't want them to, the milestones are coming.

On Saturday, Ryder ate his first baby food. I use that term very loosely, well as look for yourself.
He didn't really enjoy it but he also didn't mind it.

He was all smiles for daddy.
And last night I broke down and allowed another milestone to happen too; we moved Ryder into his own room. He has been sleeping in a bassinet by our bed. He had been sleeping great at night, so I was almost afraid to rock the boat. But I knew the longer I waited the harder it might be. So last night he slept in his big crib in his own room and he (and I) slept great. So happy and sad to watch my little boy growing up.

  1. Totally crazy. I can't believe he's at the eating stage. I swear he's looking more like Lucas did, but I don't know. Those eyes keep killing me with their cuteness! Your baby is just darling.

  2. Way to go!!!! Jayce actually sleeps better now that he is out of our room. We were keeping him up more than the other way around. And yes, as much as I hate to admit it, I sleep so nice without a baby beside me. So glad the transition went well. We gave Jayce cereal for the first time last night too! He still has the tongue thrust reflex though and didn't really get it. In time I guess. I only wanted to start him on it to help the reflux (because he never would take it in a bottle). I guess with time he will figure it out. He was the same as Ryder though... didn't really love it, but didn't really hate it either.

Oh, I made some home made brown rice cereal too! You may want to look into it cause it is WAY cheap!!!

  4. I totally understand what you are saying. I pushed Hayden to each mile stone and with the triplets, things were so busy that they just happened. Sometimes I wish for another baby just so that I could enjoy those baby moments.

  5. Yay! This is truly a reason to celebrate. When they move to their own rooms, it just makes everyone happy! And yay on the eating. Faye had a hard time learning how to keep food in her mouth rather than pushing it out. I bought some of the little finger foods that melt in the mouth, and she learned how to eat them with that. Good luck, and really, do enjoy the time he is little. It really does seem to fly past!

  6. I can't believe that he is already eating cereal! How can that possibly be, seriously I remember your post about you telling us you were pregnant like it was yesterday, craziness!

And pumpkin, are all babies required to be pumpkins for Halloween?! LOL. Cute stuff~

  9. Aww! I can't believe he's eating solids! He's such a cutie pie.

When Buddy was a baby, I couldn't wait for him to do everything, and he was kind of slow at doing them. When Buster came along, he did everything early and I kept telling him to slow down. It made me so sad.

  12. Wow, what wonderful progress! Look how far he has come, starting with such an early birth to now.

Beautiful pics, he's looks totally adorable! Good call on moving him into his bed. I bet you will sleep much better now and start to feel normal again. Oh how I remember those early months!

  16. Soooo true. Everyone told me my second would crawl faster than my first. Brennan started at beautiful ten months. I'm hoping max follows suit!!! She is getting so close though. Still I feel lucky to have made it this far without her moving:-)

  18. Hee hee hee! He is so cute.
I remember having to get Daisy sleeping in her own room. I didn't want her to be so far away but I knew if I waited it would be SO much harder. Case in point? Lily is 10 and we just barely got her to sleep in her own bed!
