Friday Confessional: Playdates = Health

Have you met Glamazon and Mamarazzi yet? No-you really should. They are the ladies hosting Friday Confessionals and well it really is fun to play along.

So today I confess...
  • Yesterday after I dropped Lucas off at school Alex asked if I wanted to play.
  • I had to hold my breath, count to three and work really hard to say yes.
  • Why is it so hard to want to play???
  • ... it should be fun and easy right?
  • But I did play, we were playing with felt people and drawing pictures with puffy paint
  • and then a friend called to see if Alex wanted to come over for a play date
  • and I may have done a happy dance.
  • I love my girl I really do... but sometimes it is just so hard
  • or maybe I am just too selfish.
  • whatever it is, I was so thankful for that play date.
  • That extra time to myself (Ryder was sleeping) made me a better mom the rest of the day
  • Sonic for lunch and a trip to the park with my boys really helped too
  • Strawberry Limeade was my poison yesterday-oh it makes the day so good.
  • That and the crack-scout cookies I bought.
  • Mmmm Thin Mint.
  • Now if I can just make the three boxes last longer than two days I will be good.
  • Yes, I am an emotional eater.. it really isn't good.
  • I have to fight it sometimes.
  • Water helps... rather than grab food I drink a big glass of water..
  • Maybe I should design a house where the kitchen is on the second floor
  • that would cut down tremendously on how much I eat
  • all those stairs and all
  • or I would just live on the second floor.
  • Dang.
  • I am so glad Eric's current job will soon be winding down
  • The poor guy probably has pneumonia but is too busy to take time off to go to the Dr.
  • I am pretty sure he actually won't have to work tomorrow, it would be the first weekend in what feels like forever that he has had off
  • Keep your fingers crossed for him
  • Hope you all have a great healthy weekend!

  2. Laughing at the kitchen on the second floor idea...you're right, we'd just live up there instead!
I refuse to buy stuff I shouldn't eat. I find it at work, but I'm safe from it at home, and that helps. Although I've been known to melt chocolate chips, pb and mini-marshmallows in a mug and eat it by the spoonful, hiding in the bathroom to satisfy that undeniable craving...

  3. Hope your weekend is good. Our bedrooms are in the basement--the kitchen is on the main floor--I still eat too much even if we spend lots of time in the family room in the basement.

  4. That upstairs kitchen is a BRILLIANT idea! I wish you would have brought this up BEFORE we remodeled our house! I'm thinking my husband would frown on this idea.

YAY for play dates! Mommas need a break sometimes.

YAY for Thin Mints. I'm glad I don't have any right now...I would eat the entire box (or boxes).

Hope you have a great weekend!

  5. I am the exact same way with playing with my boys. I feel horrible! Especially when my excuse is "that's why you have your brothers." I know, I'm such a bad mom! :(

  6. I don't know why playing is such a chore, but it is very normal to not want to. And they need to learn to amuse themselves at least some of the time. ;)

crack-scout cookies! Spot on, and totally hilarious! hahaha.

I hope Eric gets better real soon.

  7. Sometimes all I wish is that I would want to play with my kids. But often I don't want to. Sad. But at least we're not alone in this. And you did play, so that was awesome!

I seriously hope Eric doesn't die from this work schedule. He deserves way more than one weekend off! Hope he's okay!

  15. What a blessing play dates are. And Sonic drinks (between 2-4 of course) make me oh so happy. I hope Eric starts feeling better soon! And I hope you get some good family time in tomorrow.

  16. You are not selfish at all ... you are a perfectly normal mom!! My son truly doesn't understand (yet) that my life doesn't revolve around playing with him ... that it isn't the thing I want to most do in the world.

And I ate 45 Girl Scout cookies in 2 days so whatever you do, it won't be as bad as that I bet!

  19. Emmy...I know what you mean about having the kitchen too close...my frig door opens way too often during the day. It really would help if it was on a different floor.
