Proud Mommy Moments: A Picker

Happy Thursday! Happy Proud Mommy Moments (PMM)! What are PMM- they are a weekly meme hosted by Kmama of the Daily Dribbles and myself. They are your chance to brag about your kids without being judged-as hey we asked you to- or you can take the other route and tell us about those times that made you oh so "proud", but at least they make for funny blogging material. You don't have to be a mom to play along, dads, aunts, sisters, brothers, etc can play too.

So please grab the button for your post and don't forget to visit my co-host Kmama.

In my church every year the Primary kids (ages 3-11) present a program during Sacrament Meeting. This last Sunday was our program. Lucas and Alex had both rehearsed their lines, had been learning the songs all year and were ready to go. I was excited but a bit nervous too- as what parent wouldn't be when their kids are about to perform in front of a couple hundred people.

They both took their parts on the stand and the program began. They stood to sing when directed, though Alex didn't always sing, and were both sitting reverently when it wasn't their turn.

It was Alex's turn first to say her part, she stood in line with her class, went up to the microphone and spoke clearly and said her part she had learned! Success! Lucas' class followed shortly later. He stood by the microphone, raised it- as he towers above most in his class and also said his part perfectly. Yeah! They had done it!!

Throughout the program my eyes darted back and forth between Lucas and Alex wanting to watch them both. It was time for another song, Alex stood-- and oh no she didn't.. Oh no, she's not, please tell me that is not what she is doing. Okay, enough already--stop, seriously, aren't you done? Didn't you get it? Oh, yes she did she is looking at it now. Okay song, please end so she can sit down and not be standing there for all to see. The song finally ended and she finished to.

I guess sometimes those boogers just need to be picked.

What is your PMM this week?

  2. That is hilarious!

My now 20 year old daughter made us so proud at her kindergarten graduation and we have it all on video to prove it. All the kindergartners were lined up on stage, sitting in their little chairs. My dainty little girl kept her legs spread wide open like a trucker throughout the entire graduation, no matter how frantically I tried to mime closing her legs to her. Of course, she had on a dress. And on top of her peekaboo look, she picked her nose throughout the whole ceremony. At least now, we have something to show her dates.

  3. Never fear, I'm sure one of my kids will do that when we have our Primary Program. But we haven't been practicing our lines or songs. Mommy fail!

  9. OMG, I could easily see 2 of my kids doing the same thing. 2 of my boys constantly have their fingers in their nose. And I like to call them on it because it stops them instantly.

I've been known to be at the playground with them and notice one of them doing it and I'll yell out, "Will you get the bat outta the cave already and come sanitize your hands??" Stops them dead in their tracks every time.

  10. Ahahahahahahahaha! That is too funny. Keith has his very first primary program, and I am so excited for him. Though I do wonder what he is going to do up there, sitting with friends and not Mom. :)
