As a child I loved imaginative play. Everything from house, to restaurant, to the grocery store. I would even cut out families out of the Sears catalog and have whole dialogs and role playing with my family.
Now as an adult-- I just seem to have lost some of that imagination and joy from it. But everyone once in a while I harness that inner child and really get into the play.
Alex: "Mom play restaurant with me."
Me: "Okay let's do it."
Alex ran and got a pad of paper and a pencil and instructed me where to sit. She then approached me.
Alex: In her snooty/elegant/important voice, "And what would you like today?"
Me feeling silly and possibly a bit punkish responded in my best hick/ignorant/stupid person voice, "What ya got today, any good grub?"
Alex: "Mom! No Idaho people! Do not talk like that. You are talking like your an Idaho person."
Sorry Dad- really I never taught her people from Idaho are like that.
