Proud Mommy Moments: Mystery Award

It's Thursday! Time for Proud Mommy Moments (#PMM)! This is your weekly chance to brag about the awesome things your kids, nieces, nephews, etc did and no one will judge because we told you to you to. Or you can do the opposite and tell us about those moments your kids made you so "proud"- i.e. something totally embarrassing. Please grab the button for your post and visit my co-host Kmama.
Every Thursday!

A couple of week ago I got a letter from Lucas' school saying that he would be receiving an award on April 6th but not to tell as it was a secret.

Well the secret wasn't only for Lucas it was also on us as I had no idea what award he was getting. We arrived at the school and took our spot in the multipurpose room. There was less seats set up for the parents and more room for students than the other times we had come for awards.

Soon kids started trickling in. Lucas class came in and went on the stage at the front of the room. Second and third graders also came in and joined us as part of the audience. The principle got up and told us that the first grade would be honoring us with a few songs (to practice for their upcoming program). We got lucky to be able to see that- but we still didn't know what the mystery award was yet.

After the performances the first graders joined the rest of the kids on the floor and then the awards started being handed out, starting with the third graders.

And what was this surprise award? Lucas was student of the month. He was so excited and so surprised and he got the sweetest note from his teacher telling why she picked him. I was a very proud mama. And while Lucas was very excited about his award he was almost even more excited that his class won a bag of licorice for completing the most laps around the upper-field that month. The kids can run laps before school starts and get a stick for every lap they complete and then turn them in to their teacher-- 4 times around the field is approximately a mile. And Lucas class completed 534 laps in a month- which is approximately 133 miles in one month! So it was a very good Proud Mommy Day.

What is your #PMM this week? Remember we are giving you a free pass on bragging away or telling those embarrassing but funny things too.

  1. YAY! Our school doesn't do awards assemblies like that, but our old school did, and yeah, it does a mom proud to see her babies up there!

  9. Student of the month AND 133 miles- Wow!

When my youngest was in 4th grade she LOVED the early morning runs around the school. She brought a note home one day from the PE teacher that said she had broke the record for laps run at the school. That was 3 years ago and that girl is a RUNNER! She can beat the whole family in speed and endurance, including my 20 year old son who's very fit.

Maybe this is a telling sign of things to come for your little guy. Congrats!
