Proud Mommy Moments: The Soccer Meeting

It's Thursday!  If you are new around here that means it is is Proud Mommy Moment (#PMM) time!  This is your weekly chance to brag about the awesome things your kids, nieces, nephews, etc did and no one will judge because we told you to. Or you can do the opposite and tell us about those moments your kids made you so "proud"- i.e. something totally embarrassing but hey it makes for great blog material!  Please grab the button for your post and visit my co-host Kmama.
Every Thursday!

We entered the cafeteria and introduced ourselves to Lucas new soccer coach.  Today's practice was really more of a parent meeting.  He said the boys could go out and kick the ball around if they wanted; most seemed to want to stay in the relief of the cool air-conditioning; but Lucas was excited to play.  He got on his cleats and asked the other boys if they wanted to play and soon all of the boys were outside.

The meeting began; Ryder by my side driving a car and Alex playing with her Groovy Girls.

The coach started to talk about practices, the team banner and many other soccer related items.  Out of the corner of my eye I noticed one of the boys come back into the cafeteria on the verge of tears.  He sat by his mom and tried to tell her what happened while the mom tried to comfort him but continue listening to the coach.  I felt sympathy.

The coach continued to talk and then one of the kids began throwing their toys around right in front of where the coach was speaking.  It was starting to turn into a bit of a circus.

I tried to continue focus on what was being said but couldn't help but be distracted.  The boy who had come in upset started sliding the cafeteria table benches down and even tried to unscrew one.  The coaches wife approached the boy and asked him not to do this.  This boys sister started pushing back on the bench and now it was becoming a battle of will.  Their mother shot them both glares that said stop it or else- I knew that look well.  She mouthed something to them, probably about the punishment coming their way, which upset the boy making him loudly declare it was his sister's fault while bopping her on the head three times.

That mother just wished she could crawl under the table and that the meeting would end.  Ryder continued to sit quietly by me driving his cars.   Gratitude for him filled my heart.  At least I had one child who was behaving.

Yes, I was the mother ready to crawl under the table.  A "proud, proud" mama.

What is your Proud Mommy Moment this week?

    1. They were playing a little pickup game and he went to get the ball and slipped and missed the ball and it went out of bounds, so he never touched it; but the other team said he did and got to throw the ball in and he was upset they didn't believe him. Plus it sounds like the teams weren't very even to start off with-- one of the players older sister was playing on one side. So he had his feelings hurt.

I think my kids were blotting to release some lobsters from a tank at Red Lobster last night. One would think that since they were apart ALL DAY yesterday, they would be getting along....One would be wrong!
