Proud Mommy Moments: Little Bruiser

It's Thursday which means it is Proud Mommy Moment time!! This is your weekly chance to brag about the awesome things your kids, nieces, nephews, etc did and no one will judge because we told you to. Or you can do the opposite and tell us about those moments your kids made you so "proud"- i.e. something totally embarrassing but hey it makes for great blog material!  Please grab the button for your post and visit my co-host Kmama.

Every Thursday!

This last Saturday were our first soccer games for the season.  Alex's game started early in the morning.  We got to the game and waited for the pervious game's parents to clear out so we could set up camp.

And yes, it really felt like we were setting up camp with four chairs, an umbrella and a wagon to pull the cooler as we were in charge of snacks that week.

The game began and they were off-- literally all of them in one big clump as is often the case with kids this age.

Girls would get knocked down, the ball would seem to stay in one place- in the middle of a clump- for a long time, it was six-year-old soccer at it's best (or worst).

The coach did his best to get a couple of girls to stay back on defense and they would for a while but would soon be drawn into the pack like bugs to a light.

And Alex- well she was right there in it, fighting for the ball, showing some fancy footwork even (her coach has nicknamed her crazy legs) even scoring one of the teams few goals.  She would not back down and did not give up and aided with her height and size-- well as one of the other parents said "she is a bruiser".

In the end her team lost, but I am proud of my tough bruiser for playing hard and never giving up.

What is your Proud Mommy Moment this week?

  1. A sporting moment for me this week too. It's fun to see them enjoy it, regardless of the outcome!

  3. That's great that she's so aggressive, sports-wise. She sounds like she's going to be an awesome athelete!

  4. I love your imagery, lol; I had forgotten my young age soccer games... it does feel like a small moving mosh pit. You totally rock!

My proud moment comes from the play ground. My youngest is the one who most closely got my sense of balance. My two girls were playing, my older was trepidatious and cautious, so my youngest was falling suit. I was able to jump in and play too, and the youngest had an obvious epiphany that she didn't have to play the same as her sister did. Before I knew it she was dare deviling all over the place.

  9. Congrats on the goal!!! That's incredible!!! One of the things I find a little irritating about soccer (even the professional kind) is that scoring goals is pretty rare, so good for her!!!

  10. That's so great! Gotta love a motivated little girl. But I don't envy the early Saturdays at all.
