Proud Mommy Moments- MY Birthday!

Ready for the good the bad and the funny?  It's Proud Mommy Moment Time! This is your weekly chance to brag about the awesome things your kids, nieces, nephews, etc did and no one will judge because we told you to. Or you can do the opposite and tell us about those moments your kids made you so "proud"- i.e. something totally embarrassing but hey it makes for great blog material!  Please grab the button for your post and visit my co-host Kmama.
Every Thursday!

So- yes this is where I should tell you something awesome of something horrifically embarrassing my kids did but well today is special as it is my birthday!  So I wrote the kid post-- all about Ryder's new sneaky way of trying to get out of naps on Tuesday (you can read it by clicking here).

Today I am going to tell you 32 things you may or may not know about me.  As yes 32 might be how old I am now.

1. I was born and raised in the Midwest- Chicago will always be my favorite city
2. I come from a family of 8 (6 kids- 2 parents)
3. I had open heart surgery when I was 5-years-old
4.  My town and my grade school were destroyed by an F-5 Tornado when I was in 4th grade
5. As a kid I was very shy and would cry very easily
6. I played T-ball and softball, even played on the All-star team but quit when it was time to switch to fast patch as I didn't think I would be able to hit it
7. I taught a few swing dance lessons and competed in some contests
8. The first vehicle I drove was a huge 8 person tan and brown van- it was called "The Beast"
9. I had a "boyfriend box" in high school where I would keep a picture of the guys I dated-- only way for me to remember them all as my relationships did not last long in high school
10.  I was in band, drama, speech team, and National Honors Society to name a few
11. I loved writing stories and plays as a child- even wrote, directed and stared in one for church
12. I have never broken a bone but sprained my shoulder twice- once swing dancing and once playing football
13. I didn't fly on an airplane until my senior year of high school
14.. I was known as the "pajama runner" my freshmen year of college

17. I have eaten cow tongue
18. I graduated college in 3 years
19. I used my psychology degree while working for DCFS (Division of Child and Family Services)
20. We had our first home built while my husband was still in school- we sold it a year later
21. I have lived in 8 different places since getting married 11 years ago
22. I literally pushed for four hours during Lucas' birth (pain-med free) only to end in a c-section
23. I don't always have the most compassion for sick people- especially if they are whining
24. Sushi is one of my favorite foods
25. I have never drank alcohol or coffee or smoked cigarettes in my life
26. I love tole-painting (painting on wood) and am actually pretty good at it
27. I love accelerating off the line at a green light very quickly
28. Cheese- I can eat cheese anytime, anywhere
29. I am a professional photographer but I still question my abilities at times
30. I am not the best housekeeper and am glad my husband likes a clean home or there would be trouble
31. I often talk to myself out-loud while shopping
32. I have no problem with being in my 30's- especially since I look so young

So there we go- 32 things about me for my birthday.  Eric and I went out to a movie last night to celebrate.  Today- well I am spending the morning at the dentist getting the tooth I broke eating corn nuts! Stupid corn nuts, should have stuck with cheese.

What is your Proud Mommy Moment this week?

  1. Happy birthday!!! We really have a lot in common!

I love accelerating off the "line" at a green light too! Once, when Jdaddy and I were just married, we were on a 6 lane road. While we were stopped at a stoplight, 2 other cars pulled up. We were all driving small, less than powerful 4 cylinder vehicles. I told Jdaddy I was going to "win" and I floored it. We still laugh about that today. I'll have you know though, my little Saturn definitely beat the Honda and Toyota. ;-)

  2. Happy birthday, broken tooth and all! This was fun to read--it's fun finding out random fun facts about others. I didn't know you grew up in the Midwest, that's awesome!
I hope you have a fantastic day! I've really enjoyed your blog since discovering it a few months ago. You do a great job with it!

  3. Happy birthday!! I talk to myself all the time when I'm shopping, thankfully I can usually pretend I am talking to one of the kids. I totally blame having kids on that. I talk to myself when I'm working too. :) They say you are supposed to talk to your babies even before they can talk so I am always just jabbering away for no reason!

  4. You sprained your shoulder playing football?? LOL! Happy Birthday!

  5. Happy Birthday! I'm sure 32 will be a wonderful year!

  6. Happy Birthday Emily! Love you!!! And the dentist on your birthday! Ack -aren't birthdays so magical when you're the adult - haha!

  7. I hope that you have a wonderful birthday!!

  8. Happy Birthday! I loved learning these things about you.

  9. Happy, Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!! You're still a young pup ;) (I can say that because I'm sliding downhill to
Hope you have a fantastic day!!

  10. Happy Birthday! This was a great list!

  11. Awww happy birthday! Look at you and your 4.0 and graduating in 3 years...get on with your bath self!

  12. Seriously people...isn't my daughter in law AMAZING! Happy Birthday Emily! I love YOU.

  13. Happy Birthday! What a great list! I can't believe you've moved 8 times in 11 years! Crazy!

  14. Happy Birthday!
That was fun to read allt hose things about you.
    Uh....I have a 33 year old daughter.
    Dang, I'm old.

  15. You sprained your shoulder?? ouch!!!

Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!! I totally forgot that you and Walker share the same special day!!

  16. Happy Birthday! I learned some things about you which was fun. I didn't know you experienced a tornado! And I'm a cheese fan too! Could NOT live without cheese! :)

  17. Happy Birthday! Bummer about the cornnuts though :-( Cute list. So do you still have the "boyfriend box"??? ;-) F 5 tornado, oh my!

Ok, being a police officer, you know I can't help but comment on the one about accelerating at green lights. One word of caution...people run lights all the time. You should instead proceed with caution in case someone blows the light in the cross street. Otherwise you could be T-boned pretty badly. Just looking out for you and your kid's safety :-)

  18. Happy birthday!!!! I enjoyed learning more about you. Pajama runner? Wow you've traveled a lot and was hubby your private tutor? Lol my grades may have sunkkkkkk

  19. yikes, open heart surgery at 5! I'm so glad you made it through. Hopefully no more problems with your ticker? My 30th is next year and I have no problem with it either. Though I do wish some older people would take me seriously. Being short and looking young can have its draw backs!
I hope you had a wonderful birthday!!

  20. Happy, happy birthday Emmy!!!! Sorry about the broken tooth! :o( I once broke mine the day before Thanksgiving. How's that for bad timing? :o)

So how'd you get the name "pajama runner"?

  21. Happy belated birthday! How is it that we are all running in to this broken tooth thing now? Cheers!

  22. Happy belated!! And I kinda love that one of your 32 things is that you've eaten cow tongue. Who'd have ever thought that : ) Random and funny. My favorite!

  23. I love Sushi too. But I don't eat it often enough.

  24. If I am mad I will totally hit the gas hard. Get out of my way! Talk to myself...yep. I am a great listener. ;) I know I already said it many times...but happy birthday (again) :)

  25. I loved learning some of these things about you! Happy Happy Birthday!

  26. I like you. Let's be friends. I completely forgot our birthdays are so close, but for some reason I thought we were born the same year. Turns out, you are a year older. I never knew. Happy birthday a bit late.
