Proud Mommy Moments: The Hair

Proud Moment: Lucas earned his Wolf and managed not to stick me when pinning me.

Proud Moment: Ryder has now actually peed on the toilet a few times! -- also could be "Proud" as it has only been a few times.

Proud Moment: Had kids' parent teacher conferences; great reports all around.  Both are doing really well, their teachers like them, they are kind and respectful.

Proud Moment: Lucas' teacher said he is a thinker and sometimes will get lost in his thoughts, but it isn't hurting his grades, all A's even some A+.   He often chooses to work by himself, when they are given the option but is always with groups and others out at recess.

Proud Moment: Alex, or Alexandria, as she goes by at school loves art, has really great handwriting and is not short of confidence.  She is very expressive and dramatic when she recites her poems and is a great reader and great at math.

"Proud" Moment: Something was brought up during Alex's conference that I don't think I ever thought would be brought up at a conference... her hair.  You see Alex's hair is baby fine and straight on top and long ringlet curls underneath.  The two together, just seem to lead to a tangly crazy mess.  Her teacher commented how adorable it looked at my church's primary program (where the kids present the program once a year), as I had curled her hair into adorable ringlets; but most mornings I am not that ambitious.  Most mornings, it is a quick brushing and out the door we go.

It looks good when we leave, but I am sure a few laps around the upper field for their morning mileage club, and that brushing is soon irrelevant.  She also said Alex doesn't seem to care one bit and isn't vain and it also doesn't seem to affect her confidence.

But yes, her hair....  maybe this is becoming a mommy confession where I admit I don't really do my daughter's hair.

Poor thing.

But hey, at least it's never looked like this when she went to school

If you have followed my blog for a while, you know Kmama and I used to do Proud Mommy Moments every Thursday.

We took a break over the summer and just never have come back with them.  She and I have decided to end Proud Mommy Moments as a weekly linky, but I will still be sharing Proud Moments like this from time to time.

  1. I'd describe my hair - the texture and curliness underneath - as similar to Alex's. And I have to say, when I rolled out of bed this morning, mine looked EXACTLY like hers does in that picture! ;) I wish I didn't care... I either straighten it every morning or pony tail it is. I hope she handles that kind of hair better than I have over the years lol!

Wonderful reasons to be proud!! :)

    1. Do you have a product you use after your straighten it? I figured I probably am going to have to start doing something to help it

  2. Oh mann...that hair! It definitely fits her personality though! :o) I'd look at that tangled mess and consider just cutting it all off.

    1. Yes, it really is so perfect for her. Thankfully that morning with the crazy tangles, a little tangle spray and it easily combed out. Her hair is so fine that it usually isn’t too hard to brush… it just doesn’t stay looking brushed is the trouble :)

  3. Love that the kids are doing so well. Alex and Lucas sound like polar opposites.

    1. They really are quite opposites, but thankfully most of the time they get along

  4. Yay for not getting poked! And using the potty is absolutely a proud moment! Unless it is perfectly straight, fixing girls hair is rough! It either has to be "fixed" or it gets into a tangly mess! Bit seriously, her hair is beautiful, even in that bed head photo.

    1. Yes and today he is used it 3 times and has been dry all day!! It feels like a miracle compared to how he seemed to be doing.

She really does have great hair, it just needs a little extra help them just a brushing everyday.

  5. Yay for using the potty!!!
Girl hair can be a pain and I am grateful that mine are older and do their own hair now!

    1. Yes, so glad he seems like he might finally be getting it, today was a very good potty training day.
It will be nice when she can do her own hair as I really do not know how to do hair that much

  6. I just want to run my fingers through Alex's hair. It's so beautiful. Lots of things to be proud of in your house lately. Thanks for the great pics!

  7. Alex and I could be hair twins after I leave the gym - minus the red, of course!

Fingers crossed Ryder continues to do well with potty training!

And a huge hurrah for not being poked!!

  8. Yey for the good reports on kiddos! I think it's okay to work alone even when allowed to work in groups. Shows he's determined! :).

    1. Yep, I know I always preferred working alone too when I was younger as I didn’t want the slackers to benefit from my hard work

  9. It sounds like the kids are doing great! I'm sure having a fantastic mama has a lot to do with it! Lexie loves to go by Alexandria at school, too!
