Friday Five: Mother Nature

Time for Friday Five: Sharing 5 Thoughts and 5 Pictures every Friday
friday five

1. While all watching a show together, Alex was flanked on either side by Ryder and Lucas.  She suddenly paused and said in disgust "I am surrounded by boys!".  "Someday you will like that." I said smiling. "Me! Never!"  Just you wait miss

2. Alex kicked butt as her basketball game last Saturday.  She looked better offensively though still has a ways to go, but defensively- she was guarding the other team's best player and go-to girl.  The entire time Alex was guarding her she could not do a thing.  The other girl was getting visibly frustrated by the end and yea, I'll admit it I was super proud.

3. I am loving, the home-solutions 52 week organizational challenge. I really dislike cleaning, but organizing I like and doing these daily challenges is actually trickling over into real cleaning; much to my husband's rejoicing.

4. Finally watched Downton Abbey and am in love.  We are quickly plowing through the first couple seasons.  In some ways I am not looking forward to getting caught up to live as then we have to just wait!  I think the best way to watch a TV show is to wait for it to be completely over and then watch it from start to finish.  We did that with Fringe and it was so nice not having to be tortured waiting for the next season.

5. This has been a long week filled with horrific winds (shake your house winds) two earthquakes (including the one I told you about yesterday), and now fires.  Things come in three so we are done right?  I seem to be able to make it until I am putting the food on the table for dinner, then I seem to just be done for the night and lose all patience, gotta make it over this hump.

What do you do to make it through the dinner/bedtime hours?

  1. This is a tough time for me - we travel an hour to work - when we get home, it's 5:00, go home, get supper, bath and my youngest, Tanner (almost 2) is in bed at 6:30...the hard part is, I don't think he naps well at daycare (which is a struggle) and all he does when he gets home is whines and cries until he eats which makes it hard for me when I am trying to cook supper. He is grabbing my legs and wanting up - he doesn't want hubby, he just wants me...its so frustrating...i am exhausted and by the time they are both in bed, i get my bath and I am usually out by 8...i wish he wasn't so exhausted when he came home!

    1. Oh girl, I am so sorry. That does sound horrible. I hope they can get something figured out at daycare so he naps better, as he definitely is an age where he needs a nap still

  3. I love Downton Abbey too. I always feel so fancy when I watch it. We don't have a lot of time in the evenings. By the time we get home at 6, we barely have enough time for dinner, baths and bedtime stories before the kids have to be down.

    1. yes! I feel fancy watching it too and really want a full time cook and a maid, I can dress myself though, but it sure would be heaven to have someone do my hair everyday!

    1. We are all caught up on it now and oh my gosh! Don't want to say anything here as don't want to spoil for anyone but man, we will have to talk sometime about it.

  5. I think you guys have had your three already...I hope things can calm down now. As for dinner, I've made dinner or parts of it in the morning for years...the only way I survived the busy rush of family life.

    1. It is on http://www.home-storage-solutions-101.com - it is a free daily challenge to get your home organized. It is totally broken down and meant to be done by only having to spend 15 minutes each day. It is awesome.

  7. I think you're onto something there about waiting for a show to be completed before you even start watching it. That's how I plan to do it from now on! I don't really like the weekly commitment of TV - I'd much prefer to watch a show when I want to!

  9. I've heard so many people talk about Downtown Abby and I've yet to watch an episode. So you're saying it's worth a go?? Hmm? Thanks so much for visiting my blog this morning, I appreciated the kind words. I'm proud to see that you're raising such an empowered daughter (who doesn't love a good bball game, right?) and a scout ...and are just figuring things out one day at a time ( as all moms do). I look forward to getting exploring your blog more.

    1. Yes I am loving it! Though seriously beginning to wonder if the writer hates happily married couples as they are always doing something to ruin every happy marriage!

    1. Me too! I think it comes from always trying to keep up with her brother when she was little, just made her very physically strong, and well her confidence in herself helps her too ;)
