We Wore Green Shirts

The leprechaun foot prints...

The treasure hunt for gold...

The food dyed green....

The cabbage served at dinner...

The green river....( I did grow up outside of Chicago)

So many fun traditions for St. Patrick's Day, so many things that would make for such a cute post with fun pictures to show how wonderful the day was.....

........

Yea, it just didn't happen.

I did dig through my kids closets and find the 1 or 2 green shirts they had, so that's something right?

......

So instead I give you this lovely blank post, without all the pinable images and things to make you say awe!

And you know, I am totally okay with that, sometimes simple is just right.

Oh, but we did go the park for a pot of gold treasure hunt with a bunch of our friends, complete with rainbow fruit.

Thank goodness one of my friends is more ambitious than me.

What did you do for St. Patricks Day?

  1. Sometimes simple is just great! We had all kinds of fun, but I still didn't manage any pictures. I do love the rainbow your friend made. How cute!

  2. That rainbow of fruit is really cute. Ours was really simple too. We did all wear green, didn't want to get pinched! And I made a green dinner: green noodles with alfredo, peas, and broccoli, and green jello. Other than that, we didn't do much and I was kind of relieved that the kids didn't expect more. :)

    1. See you totally did more than me with your green dinner :) Yes it is nice though if kids are expecting too much. Sometimes a little simplicity is needed

  5. The rainbow of fruit is so cute! Ours was pretty simple - the Tornado wore a St. Patrick's day shirt to school, we did a rainbow craft on Sunday and dinner was Irish Cheddar Potato soup and soda bread. Oh I did get to use my sheep napkin rings from my Ireland subscription box but that's it. One would think being as Irish as I am I would've celebrated it more!

    1. Yes and Alex was in heaven when she saw the fruit rainbow, she is definitely my fruit girl. You still did quite a bit to celebrate it seems like.

  6. I love the fruit rainbow!

Don't feel bad - I didn't even realize Monday was St. Patrick's Day until I was walking Lexie home from school and we passed our local Irish pub. I saw the windows decked out in four leaf clovers and was like, Oh yeaaahhhh! Ooops. By coincidence, Lexie had gone to school in a green shirt, so I guess all was not lost!

  7. You know, it is okay to not go all out with holidays. When I was a kid we just wore green. Period. Christmas, Halloween and St. Patrick's Day are the only ones we do anything for. We barely decorate for the others, either. Because being a mom is tough and busy and sometimes keeping the kids alive is a huge accomplishment. But that treasure hunt looks like it was a lot of fun. :)

  8. That's a cute fruit rainbow. St. Patty's fell through the cracks this year. I didn't have time to do anything.

    1. Staying in a hotel all day with nothing to do sounds kind of wonderful. I have never been to the melting pot, definitely want to go sometime.
