New Year Resolutions Failure

Two weeks, it is now two weeks into the New Year, have you messed up your resolutions yet?

Resolutions- the lists, the hopes, the things that we are going to do better this year.

What is it about the New Year that makes us want to start over?  In Spring, there is spring cleaning.  For some the start of the school year feels like a new beginning.  So why do we put so much pressure on January 1st?

Don't get me wrong, it feels good to start fresh, have a clean slate so to speak, but with so much pressure on one day aren't we just setting ourselves up to fail?

Why not spread it out- with only one new goal a month, or heck one every three months.

We should always be growing, improving- as really there is no standing still, that is actually digressing; but we don't have to do it all at once.

So throw out those long lists of resolutions!

Let's just take it one day at a time.

*Do you write resolutions?  What do you do to stick to your goals?

  1. I wrote something about this as well. I'm not very good at resolutions per se but I did talk about things I want to do this year, you know, at some point. :)

  2. I'm not a resolution person. I set new goals each month and try to finish them (with varying degrees of success).
