The sick kid dilemma

I hate when my kids are sick! I don't like it for the obvious reasons such as I don't want them to be in pain/tired, it is harder to care for them, all the reasons like that.
But then there is the dilemma. The dilemma of, are they sick enough to miss church (yes in Alex's case today). The dilemma of are they too sick to run errands with me. (Especially when I HAVE to go the post office tomorrow if I want any chance of our Christmas presents reaching family on time)
The dilemma of the fact that we really want to get out of the house and do things with new friends we are trying to meet but I don't really think they want our germs (wow that was a long phrase!).
And then the worst dilemma of, should I take them to the doctor???

I think just about every mom I know has gone through this at some time. It is a hassle to get the kids to the doctor. If only one needs to go then you have to find a baby sitter for the other or take both and well I don't want to open that can of worms. Then there is always the worry that you will get there and they will say, 'nothing we can do just let it run its course'. Which leaves you thinking, why did I waste the time and money just to hear there is nothing we can do. But at the same time you don't want a medication happy doctor who will prescribe something just because you came in.

Oh the dilemma.

At the same time it is sometimes nice to hear that there isn't anything too seriously wrong and they will be okay--this was more of a concern with my first during my worried about everything as it is my first child syndrome.

So I guess I will wait and see. I am going to drag them to the post office tomorrow and pray the line isn't too long. I am going to put off getting my new license a couple of days longer as I can't drop my kids off at anyone's house right now. And for the doctor... now that's still a dilemma.

  1. The doctor dilemma is a very annoying one, isn't it? I hate deciding the same thing and it always ends with, "It's a virus." In other words, I just wasted 25 dollars and a bunch of time.

On a different note, I just looked through your craft pics and they are great! Very fun and I would hire you to make crafts for me if we lived close....
