Confessions of a Mommy: Not so sick of Sick

It has been a while since I have done a Mommy Confession. And in light of all of the sicks kids lately...

Today I confess: I secretly like it when my kids are sick.

Now, before you all start screaming/ yelling/leaving my blog or wondering how in the world can I say that, there are a few stipulations.

It cannot be the, you wonder if they will make it through the night type of sickness. And on the other end, it cannot be the just sick enough to make them really crabby and whinny.

I am talking about those sickness were they are truly worn out and want to lay around and cuddle. The ones were you know they will be okay, but they are sick enough that it is completely and totally okay to let them not do a thing.

They want an extra show? Sure honey, since you don't feel good.
They just want toast for lunch? Sure honey, as it is easy on your stomach.

Those are the days we like to set up sick beds in the family room, just sit and cuddle, and relax. And I may or may not enjoy the fact that during this recovery I get to read a few books or spend some extra time on the internet.

Wishing you all good health!

  3. I know exactly what you are saying. As my son gets older (he is almost 7) there is less and less sit on my lab and cuddle....I miss it.

  4. I know what you are saying, but only two of mine get cute and cuddly. The others just get crabby and irritable. I however, am the biggest, crabbiest, most irritable patient on the planet, so I guess they come by it naturally.

  5. Since we are all confessing, I should mention that you are definitely not alone with this one. What you describe is pure heaven every once in a while in my book.

Not a thing wrong with it in the world. :)

  6. I remember having a conversation about this topic with a friend once. I always loved the way the kids would let me snuggle up with them when they were sick.

As moms I think we have an innate desire to take care of others. I even like making tea for my husband when he's sick. It's nice to be needed and to know you are doing something for someone else.

  7. My kids usually do the cuddley thing right before. And I am so daft I miss the cue every time. But yes, it's nice when they just want to watch TV and be quiet.

  8. I can't say I like it when my son is sick. I always feel so bad for him. But I guess I am spoiled, because one of his favorite things in the world is cuddling, so I get that all the time. I love your new background!

  9. I get what you mean. Another perk I noticed is that I am stuck in the house and thus there is nothing left to do but clean.

  10. Amen. I love when my kids get sick - provided it's not scary sick and they aren't puking on my white couches - which has happened far more often than I care to document.

  11. Oh I can relate! My girls are older now and don't "need" me as much, but when they are sick I get to stay home and me mommy again.

  12. I feel the same way! Sometimes I hate to give them medicine for it cuz then they are bouncing off the walls even more and you can't go anywhere. Hope everyone is better!
