Proud Mommy Momments: Words

Sorry if I haven't been around much this last week; I am actually in Utah visiting with family- and I will have a lot of pictures and stories to share from that next week.

But since today is Thursday I had to do PMM- don't know what they are- read about them here.. And remember when you link up, to include the button and post a link to your blog post, not just your blog in general. And definitely visit my co-host Kmama.

This week as I am visitng with family I have been enjoying seeing my adorable nephew who is almost two-years-old. Listening to him name all of the animals and say different names is just too adorable. Especially since my name has become his favorite- though Emmy is pretty easy to say.

It is funny how kids talking can go from completely adorable, to where you are reminding them to "use your words", to wishing they really hadn't said that so quickly.

So today for my PMM I am going to share some recent gems my kids have said. I am not going to share all of the names or the exact details- as well these were the hang your head in shame kind of "proud" moments.

"I don't want to play with her, she scared me."
"You didn't have to play with him right now."
"No, not him-she is a girl- she has long hair"
(this conversation was within ear shot of this longed- haired boy)

"I don't want him to sit by me! I don't like him". (said while this adult was trying to sit down)

"I don't want to sit there- that chair is so dirty" (said at a friends house)

"I don't like him anymore. You're not my friend".

Ah kids, you can't wait for them to speak and then when they do you wish they didn't.

What is your PMM this week.

  1. Gotta love the kids and their lack of filter. As you know, from last week, we deal with plenty of that at our house too!

    (I linked you up!)

  2. Kids have no filters, and in the moment it's uncomfortable, but afterwards, it's pretty funny!

  4. Yes kids say what they really feel. Sometimes I wish I did that more often.

  5. Oh my word - I can totally picture all of those words flying out of their mouths! Good stuff!

  6. That's hilarious. I love the funny things kids say, although it's probably not always funny when it's your kid saying it. My kid doesn't really say much of anything yet. He only says a couple of words and I don't think he even knows what they mean, so I still haven't had to deal with him saying anything weird in front of people. When he does, I hope I have the presence of mind to make a list of the best ones.

  7. Uh-oh. Out of the mouths of babes! I really wonder what Donut is going to say when she starts talking. I guess every parent goes through these moments!

  8. Thanks for the comments on my blog Emmy! They aren't kidding when they say each pregnancy is different. This one is completely different than the last one in several ways. So far it's been actually a lot worse than my first (which was also pretty miserable). Any way you cut it, pregnancy is not glamorous. I keep telling myself that being pregnant with #2 is probably easier than actually having 2 children. But that thought makes me worry how the heck I'm gonna survive after she's born! I guess God doesn't throw more at us than we can handle. Have a great day!

  9. Oh my goodness! What can you do?!?

We're definitely in that phase of trying to teach the "honesty" vs. "rudeness" thing...

Because my kid just doesn't understand why he can't comment on everyone's race ("and how come they are black and I am not, Mommy?" right in front of them!)

Let me know if you get this one figured out :)

  12. Great post! I totally know about the things they say too, I swear the older my son gets the more mouthy he is. It's driving me nuts right now. I know he's just being honest, but at times it sounds so rude. I remember wanting to know what they were going to talk about when they got older and now sometimes I just wish they'd be quiet. I don't mean that to sound as horrible as it does, because it's really just sometimes, not all the time, that I feel that way :)
