Proud Mommy Moments: School

It's Thursday! Time for Proud Mommy Moments! This is a weekly- every Thursday- meme hosted by Kmama of the Daily Dribbles and myself. This is your chance to brag about your kids and tell us those awesome things they have done or tell us the times that make you oh so "proud"- but hey at least it gives us all a good laugh.

Make sure you grab the button, just copy and paste the code from the button below to add to your post to help spread the word about this fun meme.

Lucas is in first grade this year. It is weird having him gone all day but so far he seems to be doing really well. Last year that wasn't always the case. His school last year had a behavior card system, green was good, yellow was a warning, red was trouble-sit out at recess, and blue- note home, see principle, etc. Every day I would get a report as to what color Lucas was. It was sometimes green, a lot of yellows and one or two reds.

So we decided to try and help motivate him to stay green. We told him if he was able to get five green days in a row we would go to Chuck E Cheese for dinner, ten days in a row and we would go mini golfing at the local mini golf course. We were not able to go mini golfing until May- less than a month before school ended. He just could not consistently stay green. As I was picking him up his teacher would often come to my window- "okay day today-just...." she would often say.

Last week, on his 9th day of school, I waited in the mile of cars and finally made it to where Lucas was waiting. As he climbed in the car his teacher came over, my heart skipped a beat. Visions of last year flashing before my eyes.

"I just have to tell you," his teacher began, "I am so proud of Lucas. He is doing so incredibly well. You should be proud of him too."

My smile stretched from ear to ear. "I am very proud of him"

I think I may have floated the rest of the way home.

What is your PMM this week?

  10. Awesome!!! He is doing soo good. Ryan is on a color system this year. And he has had some orange days. But they aren't having recess in the afternoon because it's been soo hot. His teacher describes it as 5th gear behavior. haha.
