Proud Mommy Moments: This is Sleep

Happy Thursday everyone!  Is that acceptable to sayo- or does happy and a day have to remain only with Friday?  Well anyway, I hope it is a happy Thursday.  Since it is Thursday it means Proud Mommy Moments (#PMM).  This is your weekly chance to brag about the awesome things your kids, nieces, nephews, etc did and no one will judge because we told you to you to. Or you can do the opposite and tell us about those moments your kids made you so "proud"- i.e. something totally embarrassing. Please grab the button for your post and visit my co-host Kmama.

Every Thursday!

It is a rare thing when I sleep in.  Not by choice- but by necessity thanks to my 6:15 AM alarm clock named Ryder.   Saturday morning I got up with him and let Eric sleep in- since during the week he leaves for work before I am even out of bed.

But I must admit- Sunday morning when Ryder was up early once again, I really did not want to get up.  "Mommy! Mommy!" I heard him call from his crib.

I went and got him out of his bed and heard Lucas and Alex also already up but playing quietly together in Alex's room.

I brought Ryder into our room and he saw a toy he had left there the day before, it was his race track which was not very quiet.  But I sat him down by it anyway and crawled back in bed half hoping the noise would wake up Eric.  It did momentarily, but as Eric can do- he was quickly back asleep.

Lucas soon came into our room and asked if he could play the iPad.  I told him yes then rolled back over trying to pretend like I could still be sleeping.

Next thing I knew it was an hour later.  All was quiet.  Eric was still asleep next to me.

I quickly get out of bed heard Alex and Ryder's voices from downstairs.  I headed down to investigate.

Alex had set up some of her toys on the table and was playing with Ryder- who was also eating a poptart.

"Ryder said he was hungry so I got him a pop-tart." Alex told me.  I saw a chair pushed over by the cupboard so she could reach the child proof lock at the top of the tall cupboard.

I looked at the clock again.  "Thank you!" I said.  "Thank you for taking care of Ryder and letting me get some more sleep."

I always thought I would dread my kids growing up, but there really is something awesome about them growing up enough that they can take care of things for at least a little bit of time for now.  I could really get used to sleeping in.

What is your Proud Mommy Moment this week?

  2. Sleep is so dang precious. That's awesome that you were able to get a little more. I like it that my kids are old enough now, where if I get up with them, they'll let me fall back asleep on the couch while they just watch TV or play quietly. It's an awesome thing.

  6. I could use a day to sleep in-- I can totally relate. I have to walk up stairs to get 2 out of 3 kids who need me to help them get out of bed-- but they easily can crawl in bed and watch tv- then Ryan can come downstairs anytime and usually wants to watch tv in the other room which I haven't taught him to turn on yet by himself and once 1 or 2 people are up, the dog wants out- so by the time I finally get back in bed to try to close my eyes, everyone is WIDE awake and ready for breakfast! Makes me tired just thinking bout it... and my Erik is the same-- he can sleep through anything. I try to coax the kids into waking him up though.

  7. I agree--I love it that my oldest is 7 now and he helps keep the 2-year-old entertained sometimes on Saturday mornings. It doesn't always work but I have a feeling that it will only get better as time goes on. :)

  16. So sweet! I wish that my older girls would do that with their brother for me! But they're tweens & teens so them getting up before 10am without someone telling them to get up is next to impossible.
