Proud Mommy Moments: Little Fish

It's Thursday!!  It is Proud Mommy Moments (#PMM) time!  This is your weekly chance to brag about the awesome things your kids, nieces, nephews, etc did and no one will judge because we told you to you to. Or you can do the opposite and tell us about those moments your kids made you so "proud"- i.e. something totally embarrassing. Please grab the button for your post and visit my co-host Kmama.

Every Thursday!

When you live in Southern California it really is a very helpful thing if you know how to swim.  I know how, might not be very pretty when I swim but I can-but my kids do not.   Two years ago we enrolled Lucas in a group swim lesson which didn't go so well as 1) it was June which were we used to live meant June gloom- i.e. cloudy and cold 2) his anxiety won.  Last summer we moved- so we finally had a chance again this year.

Luckily, there was a recent high school graduate from my church who was doing private lessons.  I signed both Alex and Lucas up.

Alex took right too it- as she does with most things in life. After just a week of lessons she was floating on her back, jumping in and swimming the short way across the pool (a big pool at a friend's apartment complex).

Lucas- well he needed a little extra motivation (cough- money) but has done so much better than he did two year ago.  He too is swimming now just for shorter distances as he hasn't gotten the breathing part down very well yet.  But he is doing it!!

I am very proud of both of them.   And what does Ryder do while they are learning?  He has taken to blowing bubbles and loves jumping into the pool though he now wants to do it on his own.  Today when I was waiting to catch him he said "No mom, go over there!"  But sorry kiddo- this mama is not going to let you drown.

And here is a little video of them swimming.  Alex swims better when she has her goggles on and puts her face in the water- and the day I took this video Lucas was having an off day and wasn't doing the best at his lesson.

What is your PMM this week?

  1. How great that all of your kids love water, and even better that you are exposing them to swimming lessons so early.

  5. Funny that you post about swimming. My kids know how to swim but I'm embarrassed to say, "I think I know how to swim". It depends on how long I can swim. LOL. Alex is so cute and Ryder is just too adorable.

Yeah, we did the group swim class with Sprout and he didn't learn much. Oh well, maybe next class will go better.

  8. That's so great that they both are doing so well in swimming! I can't wait to get my little guy enrolled in swim lessons. I feel that it is essential! We might not be the warmest state, but we are surrounded by water and are constantly out playing in it.

  13. What an awesome little swimmer! I want to sign Nya up for swim lessons, but I need to figure out what do to with her little sister while I assist her in the water. She loves the water and so do I.
