My Hidden Talent

Do you have a hidden talent?  Everyone does.  Did you know I can make a flower with my tongue?  Yep, but that is for another day.  Today I am talking about a different hidden talent.    While it isn't something I try and I hide- I think it is just something no one really knows.

I can swing dance.

I loved swing dance before it was popular (the second time--I am not that old!).  I learned when I was 11-years-old, dancing in our family room with my brother.

Several years ago (2009) my church had a talent show and so Eric and I decided to dance to a song based on a Sandra Boynton kids book Pajama Time.

I have a recording of the actual performance-- but well I cracked under pressure and forgot part of it, plus it shows us really far away.   So instead I will show you one of our many practices (with highlights from the actual performance) in our family room late at night after the kids were in bed.  (Please don't mind the video quality- our camera we now have is a whole lot better)

(If you are having trouble viewing the video- you can see it here)

Do you have a hidden talent?

  1. So cute!! I couldn't hear the sound (my speakers are broken!), but I was smiling the whole time I watched it.

I don't really have hidden talents. I can chirp like a cricket (which I've done a vlog of a long time ago) and I played the flute in high school. that's about it.

  3. Could you guys be any more cute?!?! You are good!!! What a fun thing to get to do together. I love that you did it in your jammies too! :o) I have always wanted to learn how to dance, any sort of dance really, but I am so uncoordinated. I wouldn't look nearly as good doing it as you two do!

  17. Super cute! I can sing, I have sung in a band, in choirs, solos, weddings, and the most unusual was I opened an India Festival singing the National Anthem of the U.S. with the flags of America and India behind me (with 10 minutes warning, I had no idea I was going to be asked to sing!)No music or effects, either!

  21. yay for swing dancing- you guys look so very perfect together! I actually really liked how it blipped between home and on stage- hammered in the pajamaness of it all ;)

When Champ was going to college I vividly remember late nights practicing with him for his dance classes. Yup- movement was part of the phys ed curriculum. We got so good at it (I say that loosely) that we ended up doing a song at our wedding... except I weighted more because of the dress and Champ's poor back wasn't happy with him a few days of our honeymoon.
