Old School Blogging: 12 Questions

I am so excited to be co-hosting Old School Blogging with Elaine of the Miss Elaine-ous Life this month!  I love Elaine's blog and love that she is one of the "older" bloggers like me and remembers what blogging used to be like, hence Old School Blogging.

Copy the questions and answer them in a post of your own, the linky will be opened through the 25th.

For those of you who are new to my blog coming from Elaine's Hi! My name is Emmy, I am a SAHM of three kids, and part-time professional photographer.  I generally have a glass-half full approach to life (unless I am really hungry), and love to share everything from photography tips, crafts, and just everyday life.
I have two meme's of my own, Friday Five- where you can share 5 thoughts and 5 pictures from the week, great way to share those things that don't need a whole post of their own.  I also host 10 Things to Smile About This Month.  The last Tuesday of every month I look back and find 10 things that made me smile.  I also co-host in a weekly link up, the Best of the Blogosphere where you can share any post from the week with a chance to be featured!

Now the questions:

Are you young at heart or an old soul?  While I enjoy life and love new things, I would say overall I am more of an old soul.  I have always loved big-band music and swing dancinghave a nostalgia and passion for days of stay-at-home moms and kids playing in the neighborhood and just the traditional parts of life.

(Not danced to big band music but a swing dance my husband I performed for a talent show back in about 2007 I bet)

Tell me about a movie/book that has changed your life.  It would have to be the Book of Mormon.  I grew up a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but it wasn't until I was a teenager and really made the effort to read with the hope to gain a true testimony of Jesus Christ, that it transformed me.  It shapes who I am and the decisions I make every single day.

Would you like to reconnect with any friends you’ve lost contact with?  Definitely, when you move as often as I have, you leave a lot of friend behind.  Some I have done good about staying in touch with but too many have slipped through the cracks.

Where was your favorite place to go when you were a little kid?  Probably Chuck-E-Cheese, though when I was a kid it was call Show-Biz Pizza.  We only went a couple of times but I remember being fascinated by it.  As I got a little older I loved going to downtown Chicago with my mom and loved the Art Institute.

Do you enjoy being with only one or two friends, or with a large group of people? I guess it depends on what we are doing.  While I love parties and get-togethers, in the end I think I prefer one or two friends.

What’s your “quirkiest” habit? Probably the fact that I stick out my tongue when I am concentrating, think Michael Jordan just not so extreme.

What part of the past year sticks out in your mind? Nothing?  I honestly feel like I am such a live in the moment or preparing for the future that the past sort of blends into one.  Part of the reason I blog as otherwise I would never remember anything!  Maybe when my baby went off to preschool, as that started a new era of my life.

What do you use more often: your intuition or logical reasoning? Probably my intuition, going with the mommy gut a lot.

Where is your favorite place to go out and eat? There are so many restaurants I love, this really depends if it is juts Eric and I or if the kids are with us.  I do love Buffets- but really good ones, like the fancy ones in Vegas, as I love being able to try a variety of food.

What was the last song that was stuck in your head? As I read this question and was trying to remember and "I've Been Working on the Railroad" popped into my head.  Absolutely no idea why, not even sure when I last heard it, but yeah, so I guess I will say that since it is so bizarre that it popped into my head in the first place.

What is your ethnic heritage? My maternal side is Swedish, my Dad's side has been in the United States since the 1600's and came from England before that.

Give me the story of your life in six words.  Literal Broken heart fixed- now strong

Would love for you to join in!   You have until the end of the 25th to link up!

  1. Hey, maybe we're related! My great-grandfather came from Sweden in 1909!

Also, the Book of Mormon really IS a life-changing book, isn't it?

    1. Oh yes Peterson is definitely a Swedish name! My grandpa was born in 1901 I believe and it was his grandparents who immigrated (I always thought it was his parents but I checked family search today)-- so might still be related, but my side came over a bit sooner.

  3. I've noticed that I stick my tongue out when I concentrate sometimes, too. Just recently. Maybe it's a new quirk for me? And I've moved around a bit too and know how it is to lose touch with great friends.

  4. I stick my tongue out too when I really, really concentrate and then I usually don't realize it. My girls do the same thing. :)

  5. Love this. The old school blogging questions are the best. Greatest way to get to know one another from a questionnaire! I remember these well, oh the good ol days! LOL

  6. Oh how I miss the old blogging world. I made so many friends from it! Like you!
I loved watching the video of you and your cat cutting the rug. It really made me miss swing dancing, too. Such a fun past-time that my husband does not enjoy. You are seriously amazing, and I am so happy you are my friend!

  7. I forget the things I've been up to too, it's great to have things recorded on a blog so you can look back and remember exactly where you've been. A great set of questions!

  8. Wow you gave me such a memory. Show Biz Pizza! My husband is away and my daughter asked me to take her to Chuck E. Cheese for lunch. I haven't been there in decades!

  9. So is this a weekly thing or a monthly thing? I've noticed you participating every now and again. And I wish I was better at swing. I used to know but I was also 12 and no one else could do it (my parents took dance lessons) so I forgot how.
