WWTK: A little about My Past

First-- don't forget Proud Mommy Moments tomorrow!! With school beginning I bet a lot more of you have things you are proud of!

It has been a little while since I have participated in Mamarazzi and Queso? We Want To Know (WWTK) Wednesdays and I loved the questions this week so was definitely on board.

{1} Did you live in the same town or move around a lot as a child?

I moved around a few times- to different bedrooms that is. Lived in the same house my entire life until I went to college (my parents still live there). Which is why my life now-moving every couple of years- is quite different.

{2} What were your parents like?

Everyone could spot my mom in a crowd- as long as I can remember she has had the most beautiful silvery/white hair. She would always come to all of my shows/performances/concerts and I could always find her in the crowd. She is kind and good and really does so much for others.

My mom and Ryder- her hair is more white than silver now

My dad sometimes felt like a polar opposite of my mom. Don't get me wrong, he is kind and good but my friends were all terrified of him. He has engineer running through his blood with the driest sense of humor and can be pretty intimidating so my friends never knew what to think of him. He taught us to work hard and always excepted us to do our best.

{3} Do you have any siblings? What were they like growing up?

I have a 3 brothers and 2 sisters. I was the 5th- so just one younger sister. My oldest brother went to college when I was in second grade and my older sister when I was in 4th, so growing up it always felt a bit like the oldest three and then the youngest three. My brother closest to me was always so kind and protective of me- but would also tell on me if I wasn't doing what I was supposed to be. I played with my little sister, who is four years younger then me, all of the time until I got "too cool" for her. We shared a room for many years and I often sometimes took advantage of her gullibility.

{4} Share a short story from your childhood.

I have shared several good stories on my blog about my childhood-including where I told about how I used to play the game of Life by myself-including spreadsheets- you can read about that by clicking here.

I've written about my heart surgery.

And I even shared some from my childhood diary.

So today I will tell about some of the gullibility of my little sister that I hinted to. As I said, we shared a room. And well I didn't like cleaning this room, neither did she. Around Christmas my mom would tell us if our room wasn't clean that Santa would not bring us new toys. I desperately wanted new toys, but still didn't to clean. So I got help from a little elf, who possessed my body, and told my sister that she had to do all of the cleaning or Santa wouldn't come. And well it worked.

{5} What did you look like? (share a childhood pic for a chance to win a prize)

I found this picture just the other day- my first grade picture--

weird now that I have a son this old.

What is one of your favorite childhood memories?

  1. That's so funny that you took advantage of your sister by "becoming" an elf. HA!! I bet she doesn't think it's so funny though!

  2. Such a cute first grader! Fun, as always, to read!

  3. Alex! If your hair was red.

My sister sent letters to me and had me believing they were from Scott Baio! What a brat. I guess you were too. :P haha.

Hmmm favorite childhood memory...I would have to think about it...playing Wonder Woman...roller skating.

  4. Too funny how you got your sister to clean the bedroom. That sounds like something I would have done to my brother.

  5. I look at my oldest and see myself reflected there.
They grow so quickly, and time seems to fly by, but wasn't I just that age?

  6. I wish I could have grown up in the same home. But oh well.

Love you mom's hair! So pretty!

LOL! What a great story!!! Sounds like something my mother-in-law did to her brothers.

    Awe, what a cutie!!

  7. How funny and clever you are to have a little elf possess your body! That's awesome.
    You look the same :)

  8. I am laughing so hard at your story! I may or may not have done something similar to my brothers one year!

  9. hahahhaha that's too funny. I did some not too nice things to my little sister too. ;)

  10. Sibling relationships are so funny & Crazy!

  11. HAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA!!!!! A little elf posessed you!

  12. I love your answers! I'm going to have to go back and read all your past stories, the spreadsheets are cracking me up.

  13. LOL!!! I love that you were possessed by an elf!!! Hahahahahaha!!!!!!!

  14. Hee hee! I used to share a room with my sister who is 4 years younger. Oh the stories. I used to tell my brothers and sister that my feet smelled like strawberries. They always came to find out for themselves!
