What are Proud Mommy Moments (PMM)? PMM are a weekly- every Thursday- meme hosted by Kmama of the Daily Dribbles and myself. This is your chance to brag about your kids and tell us those awesome things they have done or tell us the times that make you oh so "proud"- but hey at least it gives us all a good laugh.
So grab the button, link up up and enjoy the ride!
My oldest Lucas has always worn his emotions on his sleeve. Not only that but stimuli- espeically too much stimuli-can set him on a tail-spin. Clapping at a talent show-had to leave as he couldn't handle it, birthday parties- ends up crying in the corner, etc, etc. Luckily his ability to cope and deal has greatly improved with age and some extra help.
But sometimes his extremes creep back in. Like the first time he got a nose bleed-he just woke up in the middle of the night randomly with one-- he screamed for about ten minutes and would not let anyone touch him, blood pouring and dripping everywhere. He did a little better when it happened a second time but he still screamed like he was being tortured. It was not a pretty site.
Unfortunately he seems to get nose bleeds fairly regularly (anyone know any reason for this???) -he even got a nose bleed one night when he was home with a babysitter. Tuesday he was at church for a practice for the program the Primary kids are going to be presenting this Sunday and I got a call. Lucas had a nose bleed.
"How is he doing? Is he freaking out?" I asked.
"No, he is doing great, in fact it just about stopped bleeding, I think he will be fine."
Relief washed over me. He wasn't screaming, he wasn't freaking out, he wasn't running around with blood dripping everywhere. He was handling it, handling with maturity and normalcy.
While I was sad he got a nose bleed- I couldn't be more proud.
