This last week I had to take Alex for her kindergarten physical, actually I was taking her just for a few shots as you have to schedule a physical about a month in advanced and I slacked-but I could at least take her in to get her shots so we can register her.
I called the Dr. Friday morning assuming I would be able to bring her in the morning. Well you know what they say about assuming things..ahem. Our appointment time 3:15-- so yes, after I picked Lucas up from school and had all three kids with me.
On our way to our appointment Lucas made sure to comment about how much he hates shots.; seriously kid-thanks! I quickly tried to remind Alex of how well she did last time she got shots.
We arrived at the doctors and luckily were the only ones in the waiting room. Taking three healthy kids to the doctor can be a potentially scary thing. We were eventually called back to the room and waited. Alex decided to try out the doctor's chair, spinning in a circle until she flew off the thing smacking her head.
Luckily those tears stopped before the doctor arrived. He talked with her for a few minutes then the nurse came in. They first had to the do the TB test, Alex flinched and lifted her other hand as the nurse stuck her in the arm. "Just squeeze my hand I told her."
Which she did. She then received two more shots in her shoulder. And what did she do-- absolutely nothing, not one tear, not one complaint, she just took it.
On the way home she did comment about how it did actually hurt. I assured her it was fine that it hurt and it was amazing how she handled it. Lucas than noted, "huh I guess I freak out the most of everyone for shots."
Yes, yes my son you do.

ReplyDeleteAwww, what a big girl! My daughter did great with her Kindergarten shots. My 2 older sons were another story. My youngest son goes next month for his Kindergarten shots and I already made his dad take an afternoon off to help. No way am I tackling that by myself again. Ha! Have a wonderful Thursday.

ReplyDeleteFrom my experience (5 kids and a foster child- 3 boys 3 girls) the girls are definitely tougher than the boys, lol. Good job, Alex!

Awww!!! Look at that adorable face with her certificates! I love the story about spinning around on the chair...I can just envision Charlie doing that someday soon :-)

my daughter was the best at taking shots, until she turned 4...she would tell the nurses, "It just tickles."

Yay!!! I'm so glad she did so well! She's one tough cookie!! Neither me or Lexie likes to get shots. :o(

ReplyDeleteThey did it! I use to hate taking my kids to get their shots. They'd scream their lungs out. So I waited until they were old enough to suck it up. LOL.
