Friday Confessionals: Where I Act Like a Two-Year-Old

Today I am in the need of some good old confessing with Aubrey at High-Heeled Love.

 photo HighHeeledLove_zpsbbcc137c.jpg

  • I confess yesterday was a tough day.  Not really sure why.. just one of those days.
  • I tried to be a good mom and play with Ryder.. but when he kept saying, no put your person here, no do this, no do that.   Well I may have thrown down the person and said "I don't want to play anymore"
  • Not one of my more brilliant moments.
  • I confess I may have got just a tad bit annoyed when one of my children did not go to the bathroom before we left, like I asked, only to be whining and having problems the whole time we waited in the school pickup line.
  • 'Mama told you so'- may have left my mouth at some point.
  • I confess that when we picked up Lucas from school and he and Ryder started immediately fighting I may have told them they all had to go to their rooms for the rest of the afternoon.
  • I also may have texted my husband telling him about my "wonderful day" and asking how his day was.
  • I confess, when Lucas started whining and freaking out about not wanting to go to soccer practice, I may have threatened to take away toys, privileges, etc. to get him to go.  (After I talked about following through with your commitments of course)
  • I confess I was actually quite happy and proud that we made it to practice a few minutes early still.... though I was quite confused when I saw this.
  • I confess I was just a little bit ticked when I called his coach to see why no one was there only to find out I somehow did not get the text saying practice had been cancelled.
  • I confess that when Eric finally made it home at 6:40, only to eat dinner and have to leave at 7:00 and when he asked if I was going to be okay, I really meant it when I said "I hope so"
  • I confess when he brought me home this

  • life was once again okay.
What do you have to confess today?

I Cannot Swallow Pills

Yesterday I told you I was going to tell a doozy of a confession and today I am following through with that.

Are you ready?

I cannot swallow pills.

No, I am not joking.  I put them in my mouth and they seem to float around every which way except down the throat.  I remember as a teenager my mom would have to request liquid medicine for me. My pediatrician was shocked and appalled! "She still cannot swallow pills!" he would say in his heavy Indian accent.  I often didn't understand much of what he said, but that I heard loud and clear.

I would practice with M&M's those little buggers would just not go down.  When I was about to get married I knew I would be going on the pill- and well it is called 'the pill' for a reason, it doesn't come in liquid; I seriously worried about how I was going to manage.

Thankfully they were so itty bitty that they actually did the right thing and went down.   Success!!

But then a few years later it was time to be on prenatal vitamins... and well those aren't so itty bitty.

I would take a big chug of water, choking and eventually spitting it out, it was awful.  My throat just could not get the idea to swallow.  If only I could trick it somehow.....

And I did, I figured out the perfect way to trick my throat into swallowing that pill.

What was my fail proof method?

Bread.

I ever so carefully loosely wrap a small piece of bread around the pill, then I very carefully chew just the bread.  My body was used to chewing and swallowing.  After a little bit of chewing then-bam- I could swallow the bread and pill.

My husband thoroughly makes fun of me for this and it actually quite amazed I can do it this way as basically I am swallowing the pill dry (I do drink water after the fact), but hey it works.

And for your enjoyment- video evidence of how I swallow pills.

Airing Out The Dirty Laundry

It's Friday- time for some good old confessing. It is so good for the soul and a lot of fun too. So head on over to Mamarazzi's, our lovely host, and confess away.
Photobucket

I am cheating.

I am cheating on someone--okay something.

Do you want to know?

I am cheating on Facebook with Twitter and I couldn't be happier (are you following me on Twitter??).
Maybe it's the excitement of something new, the unknown, the intrigue... not sure all I know is I love it.

What I don't love--this heat.
I know, I know, I lived in AZ for two years- 103 would feel like a break from the heat... but I am in SoCal! Enough already!!

Though it did make it nice for swimming yesterday. I wish we had our own pool.. other than the whole taking care of it and worrying about my kids drowning thing.

Maybe one of these summers we won't move so I will be able to get them in swim lessons ....maybe.

Ryder is totally baffling me with the nap thing. It seemed like he was switching to one nap- he would go down easily in the morning but then would not sleep in the afternoon. So tried to move his morning nap later- one successful day of a good two hours nap from 11:00-1:00. The next day....

he fell asleep at 9:00 AM... while we were swimming. Yes, we were in the pool, he was asleep in my arms! He slept for over a hour this way. What the?? And then he slept again after lunch while we were in the library!

Okay kid, not sure what to do with you.

Ah the joys of motherhood.

What are your confessions this week?

You might be think I would be leaping for joy.(my niece)

But well I confess...
I think it feels a bit more like water squirting up your....A little weird, a little funny, slightly uncomfortable

but just something so refreshing and cool about it all at the same time.

How do you feel about school starting?

Friday Confessionals: Moving, cleavage and Other Stuff

It's Friday!! We are enjoying our last few days of my parents visit. It has been wonderful having them here-not only has my mom kept me motivated to keep unpacking but the extra help entertaining the kids has been wonderful. So while we are off boating around the ocean (or at least a harbor) today I figured I would do some good confessing as it has been a while.
Photobucket

Definitely check out Friday Confessionals with Mamarazzi- it is a lot of fun!
  • I confess I have been very happy my parents are here
  • if they weren't I know I would have about 1/4 of the things unpacked that I do.
  • Did I tell you our house is done-well virtually- yes a week and a half and all of the boxes are unpacked, pictures are hung- yes we are moving experts.
  • Though we still haven't found our phone and our the glass temple cake topper that we had on our wedding cake....
  • and after talking to one of Eric's coworkers who used the same moving company- I am pretty sure they were stolen
  • and that pisses me off.
  • and makes me really glad I brought my camera with me--though it was never a question that I would do that.
  • Did you see Ryder's first time at the beach? I had to do a lot of selective editing on that.. as well either my bathing suit got stretched out or I just never noticed-
  • but man it shows a lot of cleavage!
  • And well I don't really want to broadcast that all over the internet.
  • plus it seems to have gotten smaller and my gut was showing at times
  • and no one wants to see the belly of a lady who had three kids- at least not this lady
  • Time for a new bathing suit
  • We are getting pretty settled in here-though I still haven't found a preschool for Alex.
  • I found a great possibility but she is 4th on the waiting list-so it just isn't going to happen
  • And well I feel only a tiny bit guilty that the thought of her being home everyday for another year drives me insane...
  • but that idea would probably would drive her insane too
  • I was always going to be one of those moms that would never send her kids to preschool as I could teach them...
  • funny how time and crazy strong willed kids can change that
  • so wish me luck
  • Enjoy the holiday weekend!!

Friday Confessionals: A case of the Blah's

Linking up with Mamarazzi today for Friday Confessionals-a fun weekly meme-join in, it's fun.
Photobucket

  • I almost didn't post today.. last night, when I usually write my posts I think the reality of my life as it is right now all came crashing down on me.
  • My "glass half full" attitude-well someone must have stole my glass.
  • But this morning I am feeling a bit better
  • except for the huge knot in my stomach.
  • Do you remember how I have been taking monthly pictures of Ryder?
  • Well I finally took his 12 month picture yesterday.
  • Now I just need to put the 12 months together in a collage and finish the video I was going to have ready for his birthday.
  • Instead I will post in honor of the day he got released from the NICU.
  • This morning Alex said she wanted a different mommy and daddy.
  • Why?
  • Because I was asking her to get dressed for school.
  • Such a mean mom I know!
  • Yesterday right at the end of the school day Lucas hit a kid.
  • But when I found out the back-story and what had been happening all day
  • well I am kind of proud of him.
  • He was standing up for a friend and at the time the kid literally had Lucas' arm pinned behind his back.
  • And I am pretty sure his teacher was kind of proud too-she didn't come right out and say so-but that fact that he didn't really get in too much trouble and she told me that the other kid was "very naughty" I knew she wasn't too upset.
  • But of course I talked with Lucas about why we don't hit and then we started talking about why some kids are mean
  • which led to us talking about my previous job as a DCFS worker and about the parents who did really bad things to their kids
  • so after all of that- Alex's comment did sting a little bit this morning.
  • Eric and I's Ten Year Anniversary is coming up
  • guess how we are celebrating?
  • By moving! Yeah! Aren't you jealous?
  • Speaking of moving-the week that I do I am going to have a bunch of guests bloggers so should be fun
  • oh and I have a giveaway coming up!
  • It is something I paid for and love love but I don't need them anymore
  • so rather than sell them at the huge garage sale I am about to have
  • I am going to give them to one of you!
  • Are you excited?
  • And is this post long enough?
  • Yes-too long.
  • Thanks for letting me vent confess.
  • My glass is 1/4 full now.

Friday Confessinoals: Facebook, Anger and Food

Okay I have a few things I have to get off my chest so I knew I needed to link up with Glamazon and Mamarazzi's Friday Confessionals-you should play along, it is a lot of fun.
Photobucket

  • I had a bit of a surprise on Wednesday on Facebook. I went to go post a link to my photography page on my profile and it said I could not as my page had been flagged as abusive or spammy!!
  • Abusive or spammy? Are you for real?
  • If you have liked my page you know I hardly ever post on it. In fact prior to this week it had been nearly a week since I had posted anything and then the other post was a week before that.
  • And was I posting begging you to get your pictures taken??
  • No- I was just saying come to my page to see the latest pictures I have taken!!
  • I was mad. One of my "friends" flagged me.
  • It made me want to go and do some serious cuts on my friends and keep only those who I know would never do that.
  • But thanks to my genius husband and tinyurls.com I found away around the stupid block!
  • Take that!
  • Okay deep breath Emily.. time to talk about something happy.
  • Cookies.
  • I like feeding Ryder cookies
  • they are just the baby fairly harmless enriched with good stuff cookies.
  • I like asking Ryder if he wants a cookie just to see how excited he gets-he smiles and flaps his arms like a bird and then when I give it to him he just laughs and laughs.
  • it makes me want to feed him lots of cookies.
  • He is 75% in height and only in 25% in weight-so a few extra cookies won't hurt anything
  • What will hurt are those little pieces of brownies I keep eating.
  • I never sit down and eat a whole one but just cut off a little piece as I walk by-a tiny bite sized piece is good right?
  • But 10 5 little bites start to be not so good.
  • The other thing I like to throw into my mouth is cheese- a handful of shredded mozzarella cheese.
  • I am sure I look like a total pig doing it- especially based on the amount of cheese that falls all over my shirt while I am doing this-but it is good.
  • but see it worked-I'm not mad anymore. I talked about cookies and brownies and cheese.
  • Mmmmm-no wonder why I still have a gut.
What are you confessing this week?

Friday Confessionals: Mama

It's Friday and I am really need the cathartic venting I get from Friday Confessionals, but before I jump in some business. The adorably cute Amy of Involuntary Smiles started a new meme that is all about taking time for you- I didn't participate this week but definitely plan on it in the future- you can read about it here- definitely worth checking out.

And speaking of memes did you see the introduction of Proud Mommy Moments? If not check out yesterday's post- this is going to be fun. And the final bit of business- this months Ten Things To Smile About This Month is going to be on MONDAY! So please write up your list and link up.

Okay venting confessing time. Head over to Glamazon's and Mamarazzi's to join in the fun.
Photobucket

  • I know what I want for Mother's Day.
  • I want a day to myself and some money to spend while I am alone.
  • This mama needs wants new clothes
  • Well I want some alone time for shopping and such things that are much easier without kids and then I want to go to dinner with my BFF Lourie (CA Girl)
  • Got it Eric? And Rich? (CA Girl's husband)
  • Good thing my husband reads my blog.
  • And well is it sort of ironic that for Mother's Day I want a break from the reasons I am a mother in the first place...
  • hmmm oh well it's what I still want.
  • Yesterday I saw this lady totally screaming and yelling at her kids in the store.
  • It made me realize that life goes too quickly and is too precious to ever act like that.
  • But this may have been a bit hard to remember come homework time that afternoon.
  • I hate homework.
  • Though I still wasn't as bad as that lady.
  • When I was little I used to love homework-especially when I was in grade school. I thought I was so cool and big because I had homework.
  • And okay I may have sort of been a nerd and brown-noser
  • But when I was in school homework was rare- not every day.
  • Going on vacation last week was so good for me.
  • I came back from it ready to try and be a better mom.. I want my kids childhood to be magical.
  • No I am not going to wear a top hat and perform magic tricks-but just do the little things, notes with lunches, build forts, go on "adventures" with them
  • I feel this drive but then I don't follow through with it nearly enough
  • this is why I like Amy's blog so much-she truly seems to make life magical for her children
  • Tomorrow's cooking Club recipe is going to be the last... my SIL's and MIL and I are all sort of burned out and after a year and a half are done with it
  • Instead we are starting some organizational/cleaning type goals that we are going to do with each other
  • I will miss Rachel's food pictures-though she still will being posting food pictures on her food blog here --don't go there if you are hungry though as she takes dang good food pictures
  • And well I really want to get back to the book I am reading so I am ending here.
  • Oh though I have to say I read Hunger Games-more like devoured Hunger Games and love love loved them!
What are your confessions?

Half Way Done

It's Friday! Time for Friday Confessionals with Glamazon and Mamarazzi!
Photobucket

Our spring break is now half-over! It really hasn't been so bad.
I really like the easiness of the mornings... No hurrying to get everyone fed, dressed and ready for school.
Which is a very good thing, especially when you have a daughter that likes to spend 45 minutes in the bathroom.
And no, she is not 14- she is 4.
No joke 45 minutes.
She went to go, I did my makeup, got dressed, curled my hair came back downstairs and found out she was still in the bathroom.
She was completely fine- just still in the bathroom! This picture- which I took yesterday- makes me so happy and sad.
Happy because well just look how cute he is!
Sad- because look at what that sign says- 11 months!
It has gone way too fast.

Remember last week when I was saying I needed a spring break...
We'll mentally I took one this week.
I started reading the Hunger Games - and let's just say I sort of mentally checked out this week.
Been totally caught up in the books- I am almost done with the third one.
So so good!

This mental spring break may have made me forget about a load of laundry in the washer all day
it may have made me slack a little in house work
and it definitely sucked all of my time that I would spend reading blogs.
But as soon as I finish I will try and get caught-up-ish.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Eric is going to be able to take our second week of spring break off
So I really probably won't be around much next week
but then I will be able to come back all refreshed and ready to go
with lots of stories of all of the fun we had.

So head on over and check out the other great confessionals and join in the fun yourself.

A Break?

It's Friday so it's confessing time! This week Glamazon isn't around as she is getting ready for a family vacation but you can still confess and link up with Mamarazzi.
Photobucket

  • Speaking of vacations and Glamazon- I am about to meet her IRL!
  • One nice thing about living in SoCal is everyone comes to you and next week she is taking some time to go out to lunch with CA Girl and I!
  • Very excited-she will be my first blogging friend who I have met in real life.
  • Did you know my husband has already met her IRL?
  • Well sort of-they went to the same high school-but it was a big school and they graduated different years. Small world.
  • Not only is Glamazon going on vacation but so are my kids-two weeks and 1 day for spring break.
  • Yes that was me just crying that you heard.
  • Actually I am trying to be positive about it and make it really fun
  • And that fact that Eric is actually/finally going to be able to take some time off for part of the break definitely makes it better.
  • And so because of this break I might not be around very much.
  • That makes me feel happy and sad all at the same time
  • and well we will see if I am really able to do it.
  • But you know I think I will be able to as lately I have felt in a blogging rut.
  • Some days I have felt ready just to give up the whole thing...
  • but then I read your sweet comments and it sucks me right back in.
  • Plus I have just been busy reading Pride and Prejudice (oh that Mr. Darcy!) and now I am finally going to jump on the bandwagon and read Hunger Games.
  • So wish me luck! Spring break here we come!

Friday Confessionals: Losing and Ramblings

I cannot believe that March is almost over... and as of last night for me March Madness is over, my Cougs feel to the Gators, which honestly totally made me want to cry. But wait-I should save that for my confession, as Friday's are my and your chance to link up with Glamazon and Mamarazzi and confess whatever you may want. And don't forget in less than one week-on Thursday the 31st, it will be time to link up with your Ten Things to Smile About This Month lists!
Photobucket

  • I confess I am still mourning BYU's loss from last night.
  • I didn't realistically think they would win the whole thing-but I thought they would make it just one more round for sure.
  • I even wore one of my BYU shirts yesterday.
  • Though this was the first playoff game that I did.. so maybe I cursed it!
  • Are you superstitious like that?
  • I don't think I really am.. but then again thoughts like that often jump into my head so maybe I sort of am.
  • I was really hoping Ryder would not be mobile until we moved (yes I just completely changed subjects)
  • that way I wouldn't have to baby proof this house and could just worry about the next
  • but well that would also mean that he wasn't mobile until after his first birthday-which I don't honestly want
  • he is getting so close
  • he rolls around places, and scoots in circles and rocks on his hands and knees
  • yes, I am in for it.
  • And besides we have no clue as to when or where we are moving...
  • yes I did just write a post a while back saying where we thought we were going (a town I did not want to move to)
  • but well that changed a while ago and other things have changed and are still pending, so we have no clue.
  • Don't you wish you were in my shoes?
  • Wait until you see my post on Monday.
  • I am going to be writing about a lady practically touching my chest trying to get to Ryder.
  • I did not like it.
  • And now I am going to go enjoy my weekend, soccer games, baby shower, date with Eric, church and the a photo shoot on Monday- it's going to be busy.
Have a great weekend! Oh and yes, there will be a Cooking Club Recipe tomorrow as usual.

Friday Confessional: Secrets

It's Friday, Friday! Yeah! I might not be around much today as one of my good friends is coming in from out of town and the house is a mess a little bit cluttery so I am scrambling to get it cleaned. But I had to take time to cleanse my soul with some good old fashioned confessing with Glamazon and Mamarazzi.
Photobucket

I confess:
  • I took a toy away from Ryder to get this picture.
which was in black and white as part of the collage yesterday
  • It was one of his brother's toys that he probably shouldn't have anyway, but hey I gave it right back after I got the shot I wanted.
I confess:
  • I would never give up my bed or bedroom for company... well I guess I shouldn't say never, but I just don't think I would.
  • Eric's parents often would give up their room when we had a little baby and there wasn't a better place for us... but I just don't think I could do it.
  • In fact in a lot of ways I find company visiting to be a bit of a hastle
  • (unless its company like grandparents who come and play with the kids giving me more free time)
  • with having to do extra cleaning, having extra people, trying to entertain everyone.
  • And I like my routine, I like my down time and alone time and that just flies out the window with company
  • But if you came to visit you would probably never know it as I get all my complaining done beforehand, put on my big girl panties and then end up having a great time and totally love having people come visit.
  • But you still can't have my bed.
  • And this confession is pretty timely since I have company coming today.
  • But well she never really reads my blog anyway-or rarely does-even though she is one of my best friends! Pshhh! So M. if you are reading this actually-I hope I just guilted you into reading my blog and if not, well then I can keep talking about you and you will never know-hehe I kid!
  • So I am off to clean. Head on over and link up your confessions.

Friday Confessional: Ego

Happy Friday everyone! Do you love Friday's as much as I do? This year they have become my favorite day of the week. 2/3 of my kids have school, no homework in the afternoon, don't have to cook dinner since we go out to eat on Friday's and the promise of the weekend.
Photobucket

And Friday's have an extra little bonus because it is fun to "bare my soul" with Glamazzon and Mamarazzi. Usually I use this chance to rant and rave a bit and just lay out all of the crazy thoughts in my head at the moment. Today I am going to confess about things that make me happy-this isn't to be confused with my Ten Things to Smile About Lists-but just those random things-and so well speaking of my Ten Things list:

#1- when people link up to any memes I do. Let's be honest-after all this is a confessional-it makes me so giddy when more and more people link up, I feel sort of validated as a blogger and happy that people enjoy reading what I write.

Some may say they blog to keep a journal or to keep a record of their life-and while this is part of it-admit it, we all blog for the ego stroke, the validation. If it was just to keep a record of our life or even share with our family we would just have a private blog. We all want to feel connected and like we aren't on this crazy ride alone. Some of us need a little more validation than others-but we all want it.

Which is why sometimes I will put a picture I love on FB and when I don't feel it gets "recognized" enough, I will come post it here as I know you all will throw me some love.
So validate away-how cute is this! Ryder was determined to get that balloon from his sister. Couldn't have posed this moment if I tried.

#2 Cheese- slices, chunks, stringed, the cream variety I love it all. Whether it is all by itself, on crackers, or rolled up in a piece of meat. Mmmm I love cheese.

#3 Making little videos, taking good pictures, creating some awesome craft or project-- especially when I actually finish it, which with the craft thing is often not the case. There is something powerful and wonderful about creating something beautiful-which is why moms are so darn proud of and think their kids are always the cutest-we created them!

#4 Good Food--hmmm I already said cheese--I think I am getting hungry, after all it is breakfast time, so before this post totally becomes about food as that is all I can think about it right now, I am going to end it here and go eat breakfast.

What are some things that make you happy?

Friday Confessional: Liquid Please

Photobucket
I often use Friday Confessionals to vent and let it all out-though there was the time that I told the Tragic Tale a must read- and today, well today you will learn something about me that few people know. Are you ready?

I can't swallow pills.

Well I should say I can't swallow pills like a normal person.

As a child I would go to the dentist every three months. My dentist wanted to stay on top of my teeth to prevent any cavities as he didn't want any treatment to lead to complications with my heart. Before going to the dentist, then and still to this day, I had to premedicate with Penicillin. I remember many times my mom picking me up from school and in the car swallowing that nasty pink liquid down. My dentist was in Chicago- so we had almost a hour drive for the medicine to do its stuff. And then I had to suffer through the second dose after my appointment.

As I began to get older my Pediatrician would fill my next prescription and my mom would have to specify the liquid please. "she still can't swallow pills?" he would question. "have her practice with M&M's.".

And so I would practice. I would pop an M&M in my mouth, take a swig of water and that darn thing would just swim all around in my mouth but never head down.

And so this continued well into my teenage years, another prescription, another liquid please. Pills that weren't available as liquids, my mom would crush up and put in a spoonful of applesauce or peanut butter.

And then somewhere along the line I got an idea. I have no idea when or how I came up with this idea. I would take the pill and place it on a small piece of bread. I then ever so carefully chew the bread- making sure I don't bite into the pill as it just tastes nasty- trust me- and then swallow it all. Something about the chewing motion tricks my body into being able to swallow the pill. So I am essentially swallowing the pill dry, though I do take a big drink of water right after to help it go the rest of the way down.

When I began birth control shortly before I got married I knew this bread method would get ridiculous for a daily pill and did learn to swallow that tiny pill like a normal person. And Tylenol- especially if it is coated- I can do that now too.

But my giant multi-vitamin and calcium I take every night, well I have a little lunch baggie with a piece of bread that sits right next to my pills.

Now head over to Glamazons and Mamarazzi's blogs to see other great confessions.

Also, speaking of Mamarazzi's, she and Seriously Shawn... Are doing a vlog meme on Tuesday the 1st of March- So to not conflict with them too much, as they are both totally popular, I will be doing my Ten Things to Smile About on Monday. So you can write your list for Monday or I will be leaving, Mr. linkey open for the entire week, so anytime that week you can write your post and link up. And please do, it makes me oh so happy.

Friday Confessional: What I want

Yep, it's that time again!
Photobucket

  • You know what I would like more than anything?
  • A whole day completely to myself.
  • A day to just get caught up on the ten million things on my list
  • a day to not have to deal with sick or fighting kids
  • but the sad thing
  • if I did really have a day like this
  • I would probably be bored after a few hours and just sit there watching TV
  • rather than work on the millions of things on my list.
  • Why is that? Why do we do that?
  • or is that just me?
  • I like to be involved, I like knowing what is going on
  • When I was younger if my parents were having a party, I wouldn't be off playing with the other kids
  • I would be the kid quietly sitting in the corner with all of the adults eaves dropping on everything they were saying
  • didn't want to miss out.
  • And while I have gotten better about this as I have become more secure as a person
  • I still sometimes have the tendency to want to do it all
  • as hey I know I can do a good job
  • so I say yes.. a lot.
  • And while most of the time it works out
  • it often comes to bite me in the butt and lead to me being super busy and crazy at times
  • but then in the end when I work well under pressure and it all comes together and people thank for me for a job well done-well it just sets me up to say yes all over again
  • maybe it's a sickness
  • or is it a good thing?
  • maybe both.
  • Maybe I just have adult ADD and am all over the place...
  • might be why I have so many projects I have started and never finished.
  • One project I have followed through with is taking a picture of Ryder every month
  • this month his "birthday" fell on Valentines day-do you wanna see?
  • Of course you do
  • that will be a good way to end this rambling.. with something adorable to look at!

Ahhh Friday Confessionals

  • There truly is something I love about Friday Confessionals...
  • Maybe it's the chance to vent, to just let it all out there
  • or my chance to write with bullets
  • and start a new one-mid sentence if I want to.
  • Which my husband thinks is funny/weird...
  • but when I write these I really am just sitting down and writing uncensored
  • well okay-semi censored I do go back and reread and fix typos and spelling
  • I don't want to look like a complete moron.
  • But these are probably the closest posts to the true craziness in my head
  • with thoughts that seem to change a million miles a
  • SQUIRREL!
  • (that's for you CA Girl)
  • minute.
  • And lately the craziness has been needing a lot of self talk back into normalcy and happiness.
  • I think more than a month of rarely seeing my husband, a least one person being sick this entire time, and now finding out that we are moving to one of those places that I once drove through and said:
  • -in my most sarcastic voice-'oh there is a place I want to live'- has taken its toll.
  • Now I am not writing all this so you can all say, poor you
  • though let's be honest we all like to be coddled every once in a while
  • but just because venting is so cathartic for me.
  • once I get it out I can usually move on and be done with it.
  • it's when it all stays inside and I get so much crazy self talk that problems begin to occur.
  • I seriously am feeling better as I write this
  • I guess I should be one of those people with a junk journal where I can just write it all down and throw it away or better yet burn it
  • but I don't have one, so instead it all gets to come vomiting out on you on Fridays!
  • so I am just going to stop now and go eat my last Reese's Peanut Butter cup and wish you all a happy weekend!

Friday Confessional: Playdates = Health

Have you met Glamazon and Mamarazzi yet? No-you really should. They are the ladies hosting Friday Confessionals and well it really is fun to play along.
Photobucket

So today I confess...
  • Yesterday after I dropped Lucas off at school Alex asked if I wanted to play.
  • I had to hold my breath, count to three and work really hard to say yes.
  • Why is it so hard to want to play???
  • ... it should be fun and easy right?
  • But I did play, we were playing with felt people and drawing pictures with puffy paint
  • and then a friend called to see if Alex wanted to come over for a play date
  • and I may have done a happy dance.
  • I love my girl I really do... but sometimes it is just so hard
  • or maybe I am just too selfish.
  • whatever it is, I was so thankful for that play date.
  • That extra time to myself (Ryder was sleeping) made me a better mom the rest of the day
  • Sonic for lunch and a trip to the park with my boys really helped too
  • Strawberry Limeade was my poison yesterday-oh it makes the day so good.
  • That and the crack-scout cookies I bought.
  • Mmmm Thin Mint.
  • Now if I can just make the three boxes last longer than two days I will be good.
  • Yes, I am an emotional eater.. it really isn't good.
  • I have to fight it sometimes.
  • Water helps... rather than grab food I drink a big glass of water..
  • Maybe I should design a house where the kitchen is on the second floor
  • that would cut down tremendously on how much I eat
  • all those stairs and all
  • or I would just live on the second floor.
  • Dang.
  • I am so glad Eric's current job will soon be winding down
  • The poor guy probably has pneumonia but is too busy to take time off to go to the Dr.
  • I am pretty sure he actually won't have to work tomorrow, it would be the first weekend in what feels like forever that he has had off
  • Keep your fingers crossed for him
  • Hope you all have a great healthy weekend!

Friday Confessional: Life

  • This post is publishing much later than most of my posts.
  • Why?
  • Because I was enjoying the evening with Eric and the kids. Eric hasn't been around a lot lately.
  • He has been working a lot
  • 13-14 hour days
  • and no, he does not get overtime.
  • Yes, it sucks but luckily there is in end in sight to this craziness.
  • Last weekend I wanted to go out with some other couples, he just wanted to stay home as he has been gone a lot. But since he has been gone a lot, I have been home A LOT.
  • We went out.
  • Yes, it made me very happy (him too in the end)
  • I am trying to be a good wife and be supportive but sometimes it is hard.
  • I totally felt like a working mom yesterday.
  • I was actually dressed cute (i.e. not wearing jeans and some shirt I threw on)
  • and I took all three kids to the grocery store at 5:00
  • yes, I am insane.. but Lucas needed some soft things to eat, thanks to the loss of four teeth
  • it made me very grateful that I am not a single working mom and gave me a little glimpse of what it would be like for those of you who are--you are awesome.
  • Thanks for all the well wishes yesterday and I am happy to say Lucas did Awesome!
  • I must admit when they called him back my heart skipped a beat, but he was awesome.
  • He sounds a little funny now, but missing your four bottom teeth will do that to you.
  • And I am happy to say I totally rocked the mommy sympathy/take care of my guy thing.
  • I sometimes lack a bit in compassion...especially when it comes to whining/pain/sickness.
  • I tough it out, so you should to.
  • But I did good yesterday.

  • I don't have a lot of photography business right now but in some ways I think I am okay with that.
  • Sure, I would love love more jobs.. but sometimes I think I am insane for trying to do this in my current stage of my life.
  • But then I get another job and get out there shooting and love it.
  • Probably just the mommy guilt.
  • Darn guilt.
  • But for my wallets sake, I had better have a lot of jobs when all of my kids are in school.
  • You see, I have never been a big shopper, but the other day I went to Ross with just Ryder in tow (who slept the whole time).. and well I think I could really like shopping.
  • Especially when I can do it all by myself.
  • Yes, my wallet could be in danger.
  • I better make sure I have some other hobbies.
Hope you all have a great weekend! I am linking up with Glamazon and Mamarazzi for Friday Confessionals! Play along and check out both of these ladies awesome blogs!

Friday Confessional

It has been a while since I have a good soul cleansing confessional... or well at least a Friday confessional with Glamazon. And this time it isn't only with Glamazon, she has joined up with Mamarazzi to host this every week. Look at their cute new button!
Photobucket

So let it all out, grab the button and play along with these two, it is fun.
  • My kids are still on Christmas break.
  • Yes still, they don't go back until Tuesday.
  • We will be spending their last day of break by taking Lucas to the dentist.
  • He has four loose teeth but all are barely loose and one adult tooth is already coming in, behind the baby teeth.
  • Oh goody.
  • I had such a fun time with my family being here over Christmas.. but now I feel like I am in a rut.
  • I feel like I should be setting goals and doing things to better myself
  • but I hate setting goals.
  • Plus life is just a bit uncertain right now (i.e. we might probably will be moving this year) so it is hard to know what to do, what to try for.
  • Maybe I should just set a goal to actually get my hair cut and dyed.
  • Haven't had my hair cut since before I had Ryder.
  • Haven't gone to the dentist since before I was pregnant with Ryder....
  • hmmm I guess I should do those things.
  • Why do moms have such a hard time taking care of themselves? Or at least this mom.
  • Oh plus I have some Christmas cards I still have to send out! Doh!
  • All right, guess it is time to get off the computer and make some phone calls, and a trip to the post office...
  • (right after I read a few more blogs that is.)
  • Have a great weekend! First Cooking Club Recipe of 2011 tomorrow!
Oh and a since every post seems more interesting with a picture, my big and little sister who I actually got to spend lots of time with over Christmas!

Business and Confessions

Before I get to my regularly scheduled post a bit of business first.

1) Do you remember that great dress I got from eShakti? No, well here I am wearing it. Obviously this was a little bit ago. But anyway-if you haven't heard of eShakti, please check them out-awesome awesome clothes that are customizable for only $7.50!

The best part-through the end of this month you can use the discount code EmOET4 to get 15% off of anything on their site!

I know I will be ordering something again soon, now that I am minus the bump.

2) Did you realize the second Tuesday of this month is next week? Do you know what that means? That means it is the next round of The Status Quote. For any who may not know, this is your chance to share those funny/sad/weird Facebook or of Twitter status updates. You don't have to share who said them or you can either way.

3) This month will mark my two-year blogging anniversary.. so stay tuned for a giveaway next week! My two year anniversary technically isn't until the end of the month-but with Thanksgiving at the end of the end of the month it is just too busy of a time.

********************
And now-it's Friday so it is time to confess. Head on over to Glamazon and see all the other great confessions.

  • I have not stolen any of my kids Halloween candy this year.
  • No, honestly I haven't. We had a major shortage of trick-or-treaters and I overbought like usual so I haven't had to steal any of theirs, I have so much of my own.
  • Well I guess I did eat one of Lucas' Reeses Peanut butter cups that he had put in the fridge, but I thought it was mine as I am the one that usually does that.
  • Have you eaten Reese's Peanut Butter cups this way? No, you should.. so good just a little bit cold.
  • But I gave him one of mine when I, I mean he, realized I ate his, so it is all good.
  • Speaking of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups-I may have been sneaking one about two minutes before dinner-and when the kids came into the room I knew I had to hide the evidence fast, so I may have thrown the wrapper in Ryder's diaper I was just about to throw away!
  • Genius!
  • Then you can't see all of the wrappers lying in the garbage either-just a bunch of diapers.
  • If you haven't figured it out by now, I really like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
  • In fact I even wrote a diary entry about it when I was 9-years-old about when I stole one from my brother and I felt bad-but not bad enough because I like them so much.
  • Ah, I think I might have just figured out why my muffin top isn't quite leaving me.
  • Hmmmm....
  • But I like them too much.
Hope you have a great weekend! First November Cooking Club Recipe will be up tomorrow.
